Re: Excel Interior Update

Matches the overall colour scheme well, I think. Not sure it would have worked so well without the black leather highlights but definitely does with them.

Re: Elite lost to a fire

The Facebook post says it was red but Richard's post does not mention a red one. Could it have been an Eclat?

Re: LEAKS - Explain this if you can!!!!

Good progress then, Tony. Just in time for some dry weather which will allow you to get the interior fully dry.

Which seal did you get from Woolies? Was it the large bead door seal, part no. 266A and what length did you get for each side?

Re: 1987 Lotus Excel project :D

I have a used disc off my SE. I had a vibration when braking so I checked the right, front disc and found the run-out was excessive and its thickness was below spec so I got a new pair from LotusBits last November or so. When I fitted them, I found that the left-hand disc was in OK condiition. It lo...

Re: Oil Change Advice

That's interesting, Pete. I remember when BL upped their oil change intervals, they did it by fitting bigger oil filters as they were the factor limiting it to 6,000 miles beforehand.

Re: Door Check Strap - early Excel

Not that it matters, but I think that top, front hinge bolt is in the wrong way around and the head should be on the outside and the nut on the inside. Then you should be able to get a ring spanner on it and a socket on the nut (with a struggle).

Re: New Club stock front lower link inner bushes

I would be interested in a pair as mine will wear out at some time and having a replacement set to the original spec would be best.

Re: Hello from Oxfordshire

Great story and good luck with the refurbinshment.

A couple of points, it looks like the boot floor brace is missing. Not urgent and probably something you could get from Lotusbits nearer when the car is due to go on the road. The front wheel bearings are adjustable so may not need replacing.

Re: New Owner

Repeating what the others have said, welcome to the forum. I can understand your wish to avoid a rusting car. I understand the Mk1 MR2 was bad for rusting. No such problems with the Excel apart from the aforementioned door beams and window frames. The Toyota connection is good but the door handles a...

Car SOS

I was watching a recording of the Car SOS where they restore a FIAT Dino. In it, Tim takes the seats to Bespoke Leathering in Tamworth. In the workshop, just behind where he talks to the boss, is a white Excel SE, registration ending in HEM.

Anyones on here?

Re: Another timing belt question

Interesting reply, Tim. Does it mean that my 1988 Excel belt change interval is 3 years/36,000 miles unless it's definitely a T104RB or an HSD belt?
