Throttle cable solution
Guys Our car came with a non-standard throttle cable-plain ended at the carb end. It had been fed through the nipple bush and secured with two choc block electrical connectors! It worked well though so we left well alone. Anyway, when we went on our tour of the North recently, the cable suddenly bec...

Re: Elite/Eclat headlight pod
The pod thing is interesting. Our crossover car (85 MY) definitely has one incorrect pod. It's pretty much unadjustable because of it. Need to get one myself at some point.

Re: Caliper piston
There really isn't any problem with clamping the flexi you know.
If you dont have the proper tool, use a pair of vice grips with a socket over each jaw.

Re: Paint Job Cost
As always, paint costs depend on a few factors. 1. How much of a perfectionist you are 2. How well prepared the body needs to be (Cracks etc) 3. Whether you want to go to the extent of glass removal and major strip down. I have a painter who has done several steel bodied cars for me over the years. ...

Re: Door Check Strap - early Excel
The locking part (Which is what I think you need) looks incredibly similar to those fitted to the Rover P6 2000, 2200, 3500. http://shop.roverp6cars.com/DOOR-CHECK-STRAP-SLIDE-ARM-COMPLETE-LH/PASSENGER-SIDE Both left and right are out of stock on that site, but it's a good starting point, many than...

Re: door handle
I think a lot can be repaired. As part of replacing the passenger side beam, I removed the sloppy handle which turned out to be internally damaged. I used a new plastic repair kit to secure one of the threaded inserts. The other (under the lock) will be replaced by a mushroom headed bolt, fitted fro...
