Re: Fuel tank removal
Great video. For a short while I felt I was in a distant galaxy, far, far away. Glad to see the tank is pretty solid inside.

Re: Castle Combe Club Lotus Track Day -2019 - 25th May
Great day at Castle Combe, with warm/hot weather and a nice mix of Elites, an Eclat Sprint and Excels. It was very good to meet more of the lotusexcel.net group and we had a lot of interest from other Lotus enthusiasts as well. Thanks to Richard for arranging our prime position display - right next ...

As it's a Saturday and the girls will be busy with Pilates I'm aiming to sneak over, probably with Rick.

Re: MotorFest 21st April 2019
I received an email telling me that Motorfest 2019 has been cancelled.
That's a shame - I wish it was the tw*ts at International Sports Car & Classic Motorshow (Peterboring Show Ground) instead.

Re: Caliper rebuild question
When I rebuilt a pair of front calipers years ago (and they're still in a tray in my garage waiting to be swapped over...) I cleaned out the groove into which the fluid seal pushes really well, using an angled blade to make sure the whole groove was free of all corrosion and debris. I put the fluid ...

Re: East of England showground - 25-27 May 2019
Looks like a collective no from a partner perspective then. I tried to find a record of the International Sports Car & Classic Motorshow 2018 (for thus is the 2019 event badged), but I couldn't. Perhaps it is their first one. From the website they seem very keen - their event is "set to become the U...

I think it goes (in reverse order) Henry VIII, Henry's dad, Henry VI part 2, Henry VI part 1, his dad, and so forth.
Somewhere in there is an Edward or two as well.

Re: East of England showground - 25-27 May 2019
The matching underpants requirement is ambiguous. Do we all have to wear underpants of the same pattern or must they match our cars? Having broken a leg, I'm fairly certain that one is longer than the other. As a practising chemist, I have synthesized an artificial jelly that can be nailed to any su...

Re: Scam aimed at Classic Car sellers.
I've bought a few vehicles through ebay - more recently for friends and relations - and go with cash on collection. I usually offer to transfer a modest deposit if I can't get there within a couple of days but the sellers have been happy to wait for the cash. I've bought through Gumtree too - cash o...

Re: Value your Excel if you dare!
Club Lotus valuation of mine is £9500, which is more than I expected but I assume reflects some of its history and potentially limited opportunities to find a replacement. I have 2 daughters, both very keen for the family (i.e. them) to keep it forever.

Club Lotus News July issue mentions the special display organised by Tanz and local members and it has a discount code (page 3), but the code only seems to apply to the lower cost Saturday and Sunday tickets.

Re: Front Overriders
The overriders on Rick's car were screwed on from the rear of the bumper (as the threaded sections had snapped) but appeared to be a polymer/foam in a plastic shell (with metal inserts for the mounting studs).
I was thinking about making a mould from an existing item.

Re: Castle Combe Autumn Classic race meeting this Sat 6th Oc
I got there just before the first qualifying session and it looked quite empty (I normally get there early), though it filled up a bit through the morning. I spent most time between the paddock and Quarry and saw several Evoras on the club stands but no other Lotus cars in that stretch (not sure whe...

Will the alarm system be affected by the fans continuing to run, or does it not detect electrical activity? Would you need to power an electric water pump as well for the radiator cooling to be effective?
