Nothing. It can be a very tight fit and dependent on the beam itself - and which day of the week it is.

Sometimes, mine have been easy to do, other times they've sulked - and that's with no changes to the beam.

I'm not sure what the problem was with my old box , my guess is that something was amiss with the selector rods. OK - I think the starting point will have to be the passenger door. You need to check if the CDL actuator is actually present and connected, then see if it triggers when you pull/push the rod connected to it. If it's never worked, I'd guess that a PO disconnected it because the rods are out of adjus...
