Re: New owner

Thanks Peter, glad you like it. I'll post a progress report once the car is back on the road - nearly there now after an embarrassingly drawn out C service that began last summer

Re: New owner

Been doing the cam belt and decided while the coolant is drained down I'd also do something about adding a drain tap. Since I've had the car I've drained the system twice, first time because I had a split hose to sort, and changed from pink OAT to blue coolant, second time to do the cam belt. Both t...

Re: New owner

Hi there, thanks for clarifying - I've got used to how this works now, so no problem. I'm currently doing the valve clearances & cam belt, then I want to do something about the coolant drain. The little plug on the rad is useless, can't attach a pipe so the coolant goes all over the floor - I'm goin...

Wheel nut torque setting 15" Speedlines

Does anyone know what the torque setting is for the wheel nuts on a 1986 model SE with 15 inch Speedlines? Looked through my workshop manual and it's not listed. I guess it's the sort of thing they may have put in the Owners Manual, but I haven't got one of those.

Re: New owner

Yes, those rear lights make me feel right at home! I agree with you about the Series 1 SD1s, great looking cars, but I'm glad I discovered Excels. I just hadn't much awareness of these cars before, but the more I found out about them the better I liked them. The combination of galvanised chassis, To...

Re: New owner

Hi Bigvolvo Thanks for the welcome. Yes, I've always been a fan of BL cars, having owned a couple of Spitfires, a TR7, a Stag and an SD1. Current daily drive is a Rover 75 2.0 CDT. I always liked the Dolly Sprints as well, but never got round to buying one. Searching for a classic, I nearly went for...

Re: New owner

Thanks! It's Glacier Blue, and despite signs of a partial re-spray it is the original colour.

Re: New owner

Thanks for the welcome folks. Nice one re "VPL" Andy, it's the black trim round the body joint - gives all our cars a "VPL"! Boring question asked before no doubt, but is linking to an image that's hosted elsewhere like Photobucket or Flickr the only way to get pictures onto the forum? Can't they be...

New owner

Just a quick to post to say thanks for the forum, it's a great resource and I'll be contributing posts as I work my way through a few jobs in the coming months. The To-do-list is getting longer, not much progress so far! Here's a few pics. I bought the car last summer and so far I've had to replace ...
