Re: Door beams which one
I thought there were just three types: Early "federal" on the early Elites; thinner, lighter ones for the later Elites and all Eclats; then the one for the Excel. A quick call to Lotusbits will tell you all you need to know!

Looks great Richard. Love the use of the same font as the cars at that time.

Can't beat automatics for commuting! Good to hear she'll be getting some TLC :D Pete Harrumph. It's always been looked after - just not sent to the beauty parlour very often. You had some paintwork done not that long ago didn't you? :D. Cleanest car on the restoration show stand this year? Pete

These are the parts involved Phil: This is the casting that mounts on the end of the pump and also supports the distributor: https://ffxzpa.db.files.1drv.com/y4mmZDtsskFylqfedwhIEZfwoWwclaL1OsDXdgtawGXhxt3OTUi_1RG8aDrM9YRD6qEMdJwpOq6g_WA7XN3yjlwCUpvzbner-vP6YxS1cLHVcRQqa1kKdne9xw00lvHxkKC_EXbZk9MwkX...

Re: Window frame fit
Thanks for all your replies! The quarter light is definitely the worst bit on mine as well. There are two areas on mine that don't fit well: The "angled" section of the quarter light that follows the line of the windscreen, and the top, horizontal bit. Both are caused by the body-shell not being the...

Re: Oil Pressure Problem?
Hi Phil. To clean the valve properly you need to remove it. This can be done using a press. The valve is held in place by a steel or aluminium pressed-in plug (with O-ring). If this is carefully pressed out it can be cleaned and the spring length/condition checked. I'll take a couple of photos tomor...

Window frame fit
I'm doing a trial fit of the doors/window frames before the whole car goes off for painting. Which area of the window frame do you find hardest to get into good contact with the seal? Be very interested to see if it is the same as mine. I think I need to actually modify the body-shell of the Elite t...

Re: Oil Pressure Problem?
Peter's right - the valve is in the casting that also holds the distributor shaft - the casting which bolts over the pump gears. On my early engine the valve is held in place with a steel plug that doesn't appear to be removable, not sure if it the same on later engines. No idea how you are supposed...
