Re: Kumho Ecsta AST

Years ago I tried 225 tyres on the Excel SE I owned at the time and found they rubbed on the inner n/s wheel tub on full lock. I have seen an Excel using 225 tyres without any problems in the flesh and chatted with the owner. It's clear that some cars will take them without any issues and some cars ...

Re: Speedometer Needle Bouncing

My car also does this every now and then. This is despite having my speedo reconditioned and fitting another speedo cable. I took care to well lubricate the cable before fitting and have tried re fitting the cable at least four times at both the speedo and gearbox end to no avail.

Re: Emeya

To me the blue Autocar artist's impression looks better than the real thing. The real Emeya seems to have an extra 3 inches in height in its wings and door panels which makes the car look hefty. The Autocar pic actually does look like it could be a Lotus whereas the real car looks like it could come...

Re: Emeya

I think Richard sums up the situation nicely. I have no love for Chinese government/business and would like Lotus to be a small independent sporting car producer but it aint going to happen. I agree with Bash the Emeya doesn't look very exciting but then again it looks like the stuff Porsche is prod...

Re: Classic Lotus Garden Party May 20th

That looks like it was a grand day out, thanks for posting the video link Stu. Good to see Excels well represented too. I had heard that Nigel Mansell had sent his championship winning moustache to the event to be exhibited amongst the other Lotus memorabilia.

Re: LITP 2023

Thanks for the pics Tony. Claire and I enjoyed the event and the company. The new venue was good Shaun. It was just a playing field but because it was in the village we had access to the shop and cafe which was handy as well as being able to enjoy the historic village itself. The breakfast sarnie st...

Book a couple of places for Claire and me for the Saturday evening meal at the Manifold please. We enjoyed the evening last year.

We'll be doing the Classic run on the Sunday again

Re: New Excel model coming soon

That looks great and well up to Cult's usual standards. I'll be getting one with a view to dismantling it for a re-paint in Aqua Blue to match my car. I wanted to do the same with my 1/36th Spark Excel but found it was so well glued together I didn't dare tamper with it in case I broke it prising it...

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

That's a neat job in the boot Tony. Can you imagine a maker of an expensive sports coupe getting away with part trimming a boot now? Customer expectations have certainly 'changed over the years It's interesting reading your experience with the MGB gear shift gaiter. After I cut about an inch from th...

Re: Indicators LED Conversion

Good to hear you got your leds sorted Richard. The difference between led and standard indicator bulbs on a bright day is really noticable

Re: Indicators LED Conversion

I retained the small incandescent bulbs in the front wing repeaters on my car so I would imagine they'll cover any need to have a bulb somewhere in the circuit.

Re: Indicators LED Conversion

I've had COB leds fitted in the rear lights of my Excel for several years and can recommend them. They are very bright and durable and plug straight in with no need to change the flasher unit. Last year I bought a pair for the front indicators so I can confirm it's possible to run leds at one end an...

Re: wiper motor

Stripped the motor down again. It appears when I reassembled it I'd left the end of the armature shaft sitting on rather than in the pronged bearing/cradle on the motor end cap. This had moved the whole motor shaft up a couple of mm and caused excessive wear on the new brushes I'd fitted. A replacem...
