Prizewinning Eclat

A lovely red Eclat is pictured at the bottom of page 14 of the latest issue of Classic & Sports Car (November). It won the Sunday Concours of Elegance (why don’t they use the French?) C&SC Club Display prize at the beginning of September at Hampton Court Palace. It’s owned by a chap called Doug Cull...

Re: long trip happy engine report

Nice report Peter (I'll skip the bit about your wife!) I'd be interested to know what oill pressure you get using the Valvoline 5w/50 (especially hot idle), and how it compares with what you used to get using Castrol 10w/60. The low oil consumption is interesting. Good fuel consumption too. Cheers, ...

Re: NEC Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show 2020

Just got in and seen the announcement - yes it is a shame. I just hope the organisers manage to stay in business; anyone in events is having a tough time - a company I know in AV system rentals has more or less been shut since March. Anyway thanks to all who volunteered cars and time for the event; ...

It does that ‘cos it’s free! The paid version lets you talk as long as you want. Good to chat with you guys and use Zoom for a real long distance call.

Re: NEC Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show 2020

Hi Richard

The Facebook group and this forum are, unfortunately, separate and I'm not a member. Could you ask Ian Mills to contact me and/or register on the forum? We probably have the space and anyway it would be good to have a reserve. I'll pm you with my email address later on.

Nice pictures - do you mind if I add them to the list of candidates for Oliver's photobook?

Thanks, Richard

Re: High Hydrocarbons

Do you know if engine load is measured by MAP (manifold absolute pressure), TPS (throttle position sensor) or both? This effectively replaces the vacuum advance function used on the standard distributor. It could be a fault in one of these sensors, or as you originally investigated, a vacuum leak. C...

Re: High Hydrocarbons

On my car (with DTA fuel and ignition mapping) you can set in software the no. of degrees BTDC of the crank sensor. What system is installed on your car?

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

It was lack of sleep I'm afraid Tony

The canvas idea is something I picked up from a leather restoration company to repair splits, tears and stitching. I guess whether you go with that or pigskin depends on whether you're vegan!

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

Tony - re the stitching - maybe you could try fixing canvas backing to the leather to strengthen it enough for the stitches to hold.
