Re: Wheels wanted

Just did a bit more research - the early 'turbine' wheels as fitted to the Elite/Eclat S1 and early S2.2 were 4 x 100mm. The Speedlines fitted to the later S2.2 were the same spacing as the hub was unchanged. These wheels had the centre boss ground to accommodate this spacing. The later wheels (not ...

Re: Wheels wanted

There are Speedlines available with the same PCD etc as the 'turbine' style. These were fitted to S2.2 cars (mine is one) which have the same wheel geometery as the S1. Unlike the ones in the photo, the closer spacing of the wheelnuts means that material had to be ground off the centre boss. Mike Ta...

Re: Simplify, then add lightness

One update to the second suggestion in the above post is that Aldon Amethyst may be a better alternative to Accuspark Stealth, as it has the ability to utilise vacuum as an input to setting the advance, which Stealth does not. See http://www.aldonauto.co.uk/shop/ for more info and it's currently on ...

Simplify, then add lightness

A whimsical thought... Can we have a go at applying this philosophy to our assorted Excels, Eclats and Elites (and Excites!!)? I have a couple of starters: 1. When the dash was out on my Elite S2.2, I was surprised at the complexity of the heating/ventilation system. It uses vacuum to operate the ai...

Problem modifying account setup information

This is a minor problem, but having set up my profile erroneously describing my Elite as 1982 rather than 1981, I can't now modify the model year to a value less than 1982! Any ideas?

Happy new year, Richard

Re: Black Betty

I love your new car. The Eclat (especially the Riviera) is a lovely, delicate looking car and as Lotus e-Clan says worth spending money on.

Personally, I'd stick with the blue interior. Blue/black is a nice period colour combination.

All the best, Richard

Re: Issues with dash instrument dials

It may be worth taping a small sachet of silica gel crystals (often found in packaging of electrical goods) inside the instrument case if you go as far as removing them. Condensation of any water vapour in or around the instruments will occur if the glass is colder than the vapour. Another solution ...

Count me in also. As you may remember, 1981 X registered Essex Blue Automatic, first owner Sir John Junor (then Editor of the Sunday Express). Should be finished by then! :?

Re: Glass roof Elite

Let me check with Lotusbits next time I'm there (sometime next week)...they have (or recently had) an Elite with a Riviera roof and we could look at what it would take to reproduce the cutout on a standard car. If I can get a rough price out of them for the work and a quote for making glass panels t...

Re: Glass roof Elite

Hi Simpatico, I've not been on the forum for a few days. Your summary of the sunroof situation is excellent. The attraction of the Riviera roof is that it is a full width panel, not a cutout. I'm certain that Pilkington (or someone similar) could make a glass panel using the fibreglass panel as a te...

Re: NEC Classic Motor Show : 15-17 November 2013

I'd like to say a big thank you to Angus for organising the show stand - its easy to underestimate the effort that goes into this sort of thing - and to those who brought their own vehicles. I was particularly impressed to be parked next to Leigh's Elite which was the original for the Spark model I ...

Re: Hello from a newish Elite owner

Interesting find - found this from a UK supplier that looks similar: http://customcreationpaints.co.uk/Hydro-Chrome The problem witrh using this on a pitted surface is that it just emphasises the pitting - I don't think it fills at all. I found this on trim that was re-anodised after polishing and i...
