Re: Tyre sizes for Excel SE

My Excel still has OE sized Dunlop 215/50x15 on all wheels. I find them fine during the warm seasons but they struggle to cope with even a small amount of ice and they are a joke in snow. As I use my car all year round I've just had four Maxxis AP2 all season tyres fitted after hearing and reading ...

Re: Lotus in the Peak 2020 10th - 12th July

After a superfast Medium run in 2018 Claire and I opted to do the Slow run in 2019 and found it enjoyable. If I remember correctly I think the Classic run is a shorter route than the Fast, Medium and Slow runs. I've been refused the weekend off work so we'll not be able to make it to this year's eve...

Re: The Future of the Club

I like the forum the way it is, ie informal, friendly and free to use. I've never been much of a structured club bloke. Having said that I agree with others that whilst I am very grateful to Chris H I feel cheeky having him fund the running of the site from his own pocket when he doesn't even own an...

Re: Leaky door seal fix

Sorry for the very late reply, I've just spotted John's question. Nothing fancy, I just made a dry butt joint and it seemed to work OK

Got my free mag today, thanks Angus. I'll have to buy the September issue though - it features the restoration of a "Jeep" from the TV series UFO. 8) 8) 8)

Re: Lotus in the Peak 2019

Thanks to Bash and Tanz for the pics. We had a really enjoyable weekend with great weather and good company as usual. The only niggle was Fawlty Towers which Mrs W and I were far from impressed with but it seems the accommodation in the main building was of a better standard than the rooms we poor s...

Re: Carpets - please help :)

Just to add my thoughts re the Coverdale carpet kit which I fitted to my Excel this week. First although this is a tailor made kit there is still a lot of cutting and shaping to be done in fact most of the pieces are oversized. For example the two mats for the offside and nearside toe boards, althou...

Re: "Flat" cam cover gaskets

I also use Hylomar and am careful to not apply too much to avoid having it ooze onto the inside of the cam cover. I bought my last set of cam cover gaskets from Lotusbits and they fitted perfectly. The previous gasket set I bought from another supplier and found they weren't the correct shape as the...

Re: [MW] 18 Aug - Tynedale Park, Corbridge

Pencil us in. It seems the long running MG Northumbria organised charity show which used to be held here but moved to Bywell last year isn't on for 2019. It's a shame as last year's event at Bywell was great.
