Re: Toyota headlamp lift motor

Gods country, its very rural where I live which has been good during the lockdown. Whats not so good is no mains gas, septic tanks, internet speeds a Victorian would be proud of, virtually no mobile phone signal, long trip tshop and lickin road clean wit tongue. As you can see my spilling is cumin o...

Re: Twin front brake calipers

There are a few for the 406 depending on engine size, I think this one is nearest for a v6 at 283mm diameter. This link is great for sizing discs by the way cos it gives full diagrams and dimensions.

Re: Gear knob

Mine is 56mm high and 42mm at its widest point. I think its a generic one for an Elan or Cortina. Its just got a rubber bung inside for screwing it onto the end of the gearlever, although I have cut my gearlever down a bit to reduce the height. https://6uohdg.am.files.1drv.com/y4m67eAyv7tYQTaHDnKWSZ...

Re: Excel Torsional Stiffness

Just to be a complete pain, my understanding is that the Excel doesnt have a chassis.... its a subframe, like most other Lotii. Thats why elans can have a new 'subframe' and keep the same reg number. On the subject of specials, Mike taylors Micra and sunbeams have Excel 'subframes' which is why they...

Re: Twin front brake calipers

In a word, no. The nose bearing went creating horrendous vibration and a new bearing and crush washer was fitted by 'an expert' and it was crushed too much and it almost seized,so, Im going to rebuild it myself next time so that its done right. Just havnt had the time so its been running a 3.7 for a...

Re: Twin front brake calipers

You know me, I like to keep my car looking standard even if it isnt underneath, so 15" would stay, but this is only an idea. A better master cylinder is likely to be needed but its an easy job. Im currently trying to get some 290mm discs inside a standard wheel with some bigger calipers so Its likel...

Twin front brake calipers

Yes really. The upright isnt handed so there are two sets of caliper brackets and you could have two standard calipers on the same disc, a leading one and a trailing one. I noticed this when having a very close look at the brakes as Im in the process of fitting some bigger brakes, Esprits of a simil...

Re: April/May ABSOLUTE LOTUS MAG

Yes, its been out a few weeks. The plastic bag mine was in had been opened with scissors and clearly read by someone, probably at the post office. I emailed them to say that they should be in plain envelopes really and it would probably stop that and also stop anyone knowing where all the Lotii are ...

Re: THROBBING/PULSING

Just in case anyone was wondering I found out about the defective valve because the engine cut out on me with no warning fortunatly on an empty country lane and not approaching another stationary car, which turned out to be a defective wire in the loom to the coil, but what I found when I got it hom...
