Just to muddy the water, I thought early Esprits used Opal hubs, am I wrong ? Anyway, the Toyota style wheels DO fit the Excel, as for the others I dont know.

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

Might be worth backflushing the radiator and checking that the fans come on at the right temp. Im running a V8 on the standard radiator and it doesnt overheat even in 30degree temps. When I had the Lotus engine in it didnt overheat once in 20 years of regular use so Im sure yours shouldnt be difficu...

Re: Rear brake dust shields

They are made of unobtainium and when they get too bad people just remove them, it wont cause any issues at MOT time. When I used to do track days in another car I used to remove them anyway, it never caused any issues.

Re: Excel Interior Update

My view is that the rear seat is an easy fix because it looks like the leather stiching has failed rather than the leather itself. The fix probably wont be quick though because the leather needs alot of feeding first to make it more supple. The rear seat assembly comes out very easily, two screws on...

Re: Cool cars we used to own

found an old photo album so Ive used my phone to copy the images which has warped the images slightly. But, first one in is a Spartan kit that I built when I was a teenager on a triumph 1360 chassis. https://hl8agw.am.files.1drv.com/y4mxw4J3dvv3tNV7ueGK-EEPlt9GPOcFe9lGYWalteQ-LlIYXSYDiCoJBLpkHnp5ITd...

Re: Wet roads and the Peak district, why not ?

Cheers. Considering how poor the weather was with a heavy misty drizzle, and it was about 8 to 8.30 pm so the light was very poor, they came out quite well. The static ones needed a tripod and a fill in flash on a long exposure but then the clouds really dropped so I had a steady drive home. You wou...

Wet roads and the Peak district, why not ?

Its a short run from my house, it was empty cos the weather was crap, so what else would you do but go out for a drive and take a few photos. https://hlpusa.am.files.1drv.com/y4mCo3ps2HrCMHAqNxRHeuME71LFc5Esakq1_p1oOdCT32wk0GLSWhjHtZtfFuCsfn26h0wIdVkrm6nwVrV8J63n9JGxu9-fDrhiy_NZLSeBW8yabLO4aJbWvsWKW...

Re: Fuel smell in boot

I recently had a fail to proceed incident when my facet pump failed fitted to cope with the higher delivery of my V8. After a fuel efficient run on the back of a recovery wagon I fitted the old SU pump back on to get the car back in the garage, but it pissed fuel out of the end cover cos the old cor...

Believe me, if it wasn't working at all you would know about it. Recently my engine cut out on me at about 30 mph and its very heavy even at that speed.

Re: Locations for meet-ups

Been to the Carding Shed a couple of times, although I liked thier previous setup better ( now a housing estate ) its a great place, have a look at the website. I think it was the fact that the parking was better at the old place. It can get busy tho cos its a retro setup it attracts alot of non car...
