Re: Jump starting
Try taking the battery off the other car and connecting it direct using the jump leads, this cuts down power loss.
Before this check that the engine is properly earthed, if it hasn't you may be using the throttle cable as an earth!!!!

Re: I knew I shouldn't have driven a Caterham Again!!
I now realise what an alcoholic feels like! Built my first (proper) Lotus 7, in 1970, £685 delivered in boxes. This was the series 3, that was discontinued and resurrected by Caterham, I've done a couple of Westfields since then, but thought I had really kicked the habit........ Then wife got me a C...

Re: long life cambelts
Just for info, I'm going through the process at the moment of ordering from Gates, who do not supply direct. Anyway the Complete belt number is. HTD 5168 58 133 X 26.4 That was actually written on my last one.And because it's just been sitting on a largely static engine for 18 mths, now the MOT is d...

Re: 'A' pillar trims
As usual, those of us that have been fiddling with old cars for longer than I care to admit, have usually found ways to do things that aren't in the books. You're right, these can be bonded so tight they are IMPOSSIBLE to prise (z!) off. Get some high strength nylon fishing line OR thicker stronger ...

Re: Ignition immobolizer
CHances are that one of the wires( the important one), will go down to the ignition relay behing the lower panel by the driver's right footwell. It's the one with the big white wire going to it. The others will be 12V supply and the door/boot switches. I had so much trouble I just pulled it all out....

I've got a couple, but check what your column is, Excels before '86 were not Toyota.
Will you need just the housing or the key as well, there are also two barrel diameters.
The shear bolts can be replaced with ordinary ones.

Re: White B reg at Farmoor Service Station, Oxfordshire
Stopped and looked at this on my way back from a "drive what you want" day at Upper Heyford, that I got for my Birthday. I chose Elise and Caterham, apparently I was the only one to choose the 7. Bad news was, it was just like alcohol to an alcoholic, one drive and I want one again, wife not pleased...
