Its an Excel-not an Eclat-so has the reliable bits.
I'd have thought condition not age is important here.
Yours looks to be in excellent original condition and I'd tend to emphasize that.

To be honest lotus have never fared aswell on the classic market as jaguars, ferrari's porsches etc, even though in the 80s they were pretty similarly priced, I think the espirt has potencial to be a sought after classic, the original elan already is, certain elises will do well, the rest will stru...

Anyone know of a battery cut-off switch that will either fit under the plastic cover or can be spliced into the feed line?
The one I have joins the battery terminal but doesn't leave enough room for the cover.I'm looking for a neater solution.

The other thing that annoys me is one of size, well width really! It's amusing to note that Mike chose a modern small car (Micra) for a rally prototype because the wheel base etc was a near fit for the Excel chassis! (Yet another) rant over. :x How very true-I was amazed that the wheelbase on my Mi...

Bonnet Frame

The gas strut supporting the bonnet has recently gone weak and easily drops down. Caught a breeze a couple of times and had the bonnet drop hard. I've noticed the metal frame joining the strut ball to the bonnet is loose and "bends" on opening/closing.I'd imagine this will start causing cracks in th...
