Re: Trying to get Elite 1981 S2.2 back on road - help please

DC, having recently wrestled with this, I can probably help. Assuming that Excel and Elite are similar of course. Water pump is held on by five set screws of varying lengths. See locations of holes https://www.flickr.com/photos/mrlocust/16697928695/in/photostream/ The power steering pump bracket is ...

Rear seatbelt upper mountings (top of wheel arch)

Does anyone have the size of the bolts through to the boot and through the belt mount into the captive nuts of the bracket so I can source some before stripping the car down? The replacement plates appear to be 7/16" UNF but how long?

Thanks.

Instrument backlight on VDO gauges

Halfords reference for the bulb in the smaller VDO instruments is 286.

Re: Door locking mechanism

Similar experience here. I have found it beneficial to occasionally flood the lock mechanism on the rear of the door with a light oil such as aerosol 3 IN 1 when the locking starts to feel a little sticky. That usually gets things back to a slick operating condition.

All you need to determine the rate is the dimensions of an unfitted spring.

OE fit for Rover K-Series in the 25, 45, 75, Landrover Freelander etc.

Re: Hesitation when accelerating

Any ideas anyone? Check if the carburettor mounting bobbins have aged and become hardened/no longer resilient. Or if they have been over tightened to clamp the carburettors solidly to the manifold. On a new installation of Dellortos fitted to a Triumph engine I once had a nightmare problem which on...

Re: Wheels wanted

The wheels on the Colt look like Compomotive Turbo style. Not listed on the website any more http://comp.co.uk/ but may be worth an enquiry. I have previously had them provide uncommon PCD and offset combinations.

Re: Speedline wheels wanted full set of 5

Malcolm, you are right. Practicalities of collection mean that for me it is easier to wait for one to come up closer to home or try somewhere like Lotusbits. If it is still available next time I'm in your part of the world I may contact you to see if it is still available but don't hold back if some...

Re: Adjustment of Clock?

If you have the futuristic green glow of the earlier digital clock you put a ballpoint pen in the hour hole to adjust the hour and the minute hole to adjust the minutes. Even better if you keep a pen in the glovebox.

Not all changes should be considered as progress!!

Re: Speedline wheels wanted full set of 5

I could be in the market for a single good 15" Speedline. One of mine has a notch out of the outer rim. Does it have a tyre fitted, centre or just the rim?
