Re: On the rack........

Thanks all. I thought the extent of the leak was probably a bit over the capability of leak stopper as my driveway will testify. It emptied the tank in one manoeuvre getting it out of the garage. Refurbished rack from Lotusbits was the easiest choice in the end. Feed and return connections already u...

On the rack........

On the basis that the steering rack on my car is leaking from the LH boot when the engine is running and steering is applied it seems to need a rebuild of pistons and seals etc so what are the experiences/options: 1. Rebuild kit - is it straightforward or specialist tools required etc best left to a...

Re: Door handle help!

Thanks for the feedback on what worked for you. All fixed and MoT'd now. My repair was on the nearest thread insert to the rear of the door (not the lock barrel retaining screw). I cleaned up the break with a carbide burr on a Dremel and appropriate sized drill (by hand). Then found a longer (than t...

Door handle help!

Driver's external door handle has succumbed to the usual pulled out inserts. When it's booked in for MOT this week. Assuming that replacements which aren't broken are going to be rarer than chicken lips....... Does anybody have any recommendations of which type of chemical metal, araldite etc...

Re: Shock Absorbers

So from Excelnet and other forums, the general feedback is that with all brands there is experience of valving problems, ride height issues, leaks and corrosion?

Does this mean go with the lowest cost and best availability then count on doing it again in a few years?

Re: Door beams

Thanks for the replies. Not had a chance to strip the door yet but the feedback is making me more open minded about possible repair rather than assuming replacement.

Door beams

Whilst working in the driver's footwell with the door open, the door has dropped significantly and will no longer close. It now won't open fully either.      Assuming that the door beam is toast, are there any specific gotchas to be wary of when stripping down or...

Re: EFI base maps

Thanks Jerry. It will be an interesting exercise to compare a few maps while I'm waiting for my ECU to arrive....

I'm currently pulling Richard's map into the Emerald software to make comparisons possible in a common format.

Re: EFI base maps

Thanks for the offer Richard. I'll e-mail via the forum, hopefully that allows you attach the file by return. I downloaded the DTA software and it looks like it should be reasonably easy to generate an Emerald equivalent as Emerald software allows configuration of TPS% and RPM sites to make the same...

EFI base maps

I'm currently starting an upgrade to my Lumenition ignition/injection ECU due to not being able to access the mapping (even Lumenition can't access it as it requires a 1993 vintage Psion computer). Based on previous good experience with other cars, Emerald K6 ECU is the way forwards; just in case I ...
