Re: Headlining

Slight thread deviation: Remind me - is the A-post trim in the Excel glued to the A-post like it is in the Elite, or is there a removable cover - I can't remember now?

M14 x 2. I've always used rotary polishers - air or electric - you just have to be careful with heat build-up and on the corners/edges. I often tape edges and do them last.

Re: Clutch issue-hydraulics?

I usually set up a funnel with a length of hose connected to it suspended in the engine bay to re-fill the box. You could phone Opie Oils for a recommendation for oil.

Re: Rear wheel alignment / How to access the eccentric adjuster?

I use pieces of flat 8mm nylon (about 12" x 12") laid on top of each other, with a bit of grease, under each wheel - turns easily.

Remove the boot floor brace (you may need spacers on the forward bolts when you re-tighten the bolts) and re-tighten the brace bolts at the adjustment point. Make sure everything is free to move when loosened. Take it to an alignment centre with the appropriate load to ensure the required ride heigh...

Re: Clutch issue-hydraulics?

Get a good synthetic oil in there first to see if it makes any difference. My wife's old Audi had all the same symptoms, which disappeared on changing the oil. It may make no difference of course, but it sounds like it will be a good job done.

Brilliant work Neil 8) - I especially like the metal forming over the wooden buck. It will be as good as new when finished. Does your car have the elongated/reinforced anti-roll bar brackets? They were a factory recall ISTR.
