Wiring diagram needed

Has anyone got a copy of page 6 and 6B, from the section MH variant of the electrical section of the manual they could scan and email to me? (Excel 89 model Year). I now have a scanned copy of the majority of this section but typically, I have a problem with the head lamp flashing circuit, and this ...

Re: Steering column "knock"

Sometimes, things get progressively worse, then the solution becomes blindingly obvious. Took a trip to LB today for rear seat belt plates primarily, but spoke with Mike about the knock. I got very close to buying a replacement column, agreeing with Mike that by the time you've removed and stripped ...

Re: New member - Excel SA

I tried various paints / solutions to repair the reflector on my Series 1 style rear lights. In the end found that a sticky backed silver foil worked best. The top half done in photo below, then powered the bulb to see the effect. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2go8cc2fhvtvju5/200916.jpg?raw=1 Due to the...

Re: Air Horn faults.

Thanks guys. I have a plan now. Will remove air pump and separately blow air into the trumpets. Should be able to see what flow the pump delivers and ply it with some Lubricant. Visiting Lotusbit's on Thursday as I need a couple of rear seat belt plates. If the pump is shot, might be a good opportun...

Re: Virtual meetings anyone?

Covid permitting, I'm taking the Excel along to a meet in Earls Barton, Northants tomorrow evening, so will have to pass on this week.

Be back on line for next meeting.

Re: Air Horn faults.

I can only see the first 6" or so of 2 pipe. After that they just disappear into the nose cone never to be seen again.

When you did yours, what was involved?

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

Feel a donation coming the Excels way from the Elite for these seat belt plates ( Passenger side bolt came out surprisingly, but it's still more rust than steel, so best change the pair). Turns out the Elite didn't approve of being a donor :( I must have fitted them when the body was off the chassi...

Air Horn faults.

It's nearly MOT time so a few points to rectify. Had reason to use the horn recently and although something happened, a horn it certainly wasn't. Checked today and the noise you hear is just the compressor running. Removed N/S headlamp and pipes are sound and fitted, but then the two pipes disappear...

Look carefully - It is there.

How long do we have Richard to supply Photo's. I'll try to get something of the Excel within the week, but a few buts to add back before hand.

First outing of any meeting kind for the Excel :D Not sure how busy it will be given Covid, but very local for me and for £4:00, whats to loose. Any other takers...

Can't you sleep - or maybe you're away on business (post time at 02:35)😔

Good thought Richard. Strange how we sometimes can't see the wood for trees.

We'll. - I've been feeding the beast with the rejuvenate stuff daily for 8 days and although improving, it's fair to say miracles are not happening. Some pliability is coming back, so I laced some wax thread across one one the gaps in the hope I could pull it party together, get a bit of stretch in ...

Re: Door beam compatibility

Time to conclude this thread with a definitive - NO, they are not interchangeable. The end plate detail I commented above could be adapted with a bit of dedication and plugging up at least one of the holes. But the real show stopper is the end plate for the door latch on the Elite beam has a "kick" ...

Those yellow highlights would have to go.
Will be an interesting watch. Shame there's only 1 internal photo. Might mean the inside leaves a lot to be desired?

Re: Elite restoration begins!

Really interesting project and will follow with interest progress. 🤞you find out you can make it fit. If anyone can, I'm sure you can. I have to say though, Auto boxes just ain't my bag. I can at least thank them for getting me back in a mobile Lotus 😁. The XK8 I had were only made with an auto box....
