Re: The longest Elite Resto ? - probably

Today's specialist subject. Door Bushes. Question 1 : Spot the problem child !!
Image.

The roll bar might have beaten me, but I consider that more of a strategic withdrawal. Door bushes - a walk in the park in comparison.

Re: Excel SE wanted

I've started a search for an Excel. Later models are my focus. Later the better. Needs to be a complete running car (cant afford it to distract me too much from the Elite resto) 😀🔧🔧. Especially with ⛳ opening up. !!!! Any of the cars earlier in this thread still up for grabs? Got a couple on the rad...

Re: The longest Elite Resto ? - probably

It's certainly soft, witness fact the socket pulled into it.
I have started a slot with hacksaw which helped on all other bushes, but so far not this one. Just need to go deeper once I get back out there this morning.

Re: The longest Elite Resto ? - probably

Roll bar painted up and back in position and pleased to report the mod to hold the sticker nut plate is finished and in position. Only minor change to installation was I set the nylock nuts to position away from the car, leaving the brass tubes out initially. I could then slide over the plate on the...

Re: GEB193N on Ebay

Looks a very complete and original car, but what a price. 😳😳. Original radio, but will it clean up? Also original trim (well at least what's left after the mice have dined out). Would bet it still has original non galvanised chassis also based on fact rest of car doesn't looked messed with. Be an in...

Re: Gear knob

That's a different pattern. My Elite (maxi based) and to my knowledge all earlier cars are a double H layout ( reverse below O/D).
Did later Excels with Toyota parts have a changed layout?

Re: Seat sewing machine advice needed!

It was leather/foam/fabric sandwich Interesting. I asked seller of the machine on ebay about walking feet, the referred to slant stitch and machines ability to handle foam backed materials. He was extremely helpful with his replies, but was hardly trying to sell this machine based on the questions ...

By the time you've had one made and 3D printed an insert it might be worth considering. I found this by searching on "elan ...

That's pretty much what I had - it was great.
Did you do foam backed materials with it, or just leather?

Re: Seat sewing machine advice needed!

Hands Off. I'd got my eyes on that.   No seriously, I'd be happy to team resources with you. Your need is a lot more critical than mine so I won't enter the bidding if your serious about it. PM me if you choose not to bid on it. If / when you get a more industrial machine I'd certain...

Re: Virtual meetings anyone?

Couldn't see the new thread on either this forum or TFL, but doesn't matter now we have link.
I've been working on cleaning up my roll bar recently, and have done a mod to make the striker plate nut plate captive on the B post. I could share a bit of the detail on that if anyone is interested.

Re: 83 Excel from from Finland

Just been reading Wikipedia on the Clans. I do recall now as kits ( I bought my Elite in mid 80's after reasonably extensive research into various kit cars). Peter : I'm sure you must have a thread somewhere on the site that details the specifics of your car ( seems there were many variants over the...

Re: 83 Excel from from Finland

Maybe I'll just clarify my earlier post by saying my front cross member has been braced by Spyder when chassis was refurbed, and at the rear, I lift on the Diff, then placing axle stands under the chassis on the verticals where the diff bottom legs mount (with suitable wood blocks between. Agreed ja...
