Re: 2022 Calendar - go/no go

Can I have one as well Cheeers Hi Pete, I have sent you an email re the calendar. I think you may have paid for one earlier this week and maybe you tried to contact me via a pm on the board, but these often don’t work. At any rate I need confirmation that the payment is yours and your postal addres...

Re: Iron cross wheels

Both of the above pictures show Lotus Speedlines. I’ve had bad durability experiences with paint as well as being aware of problems with powder coating. Bottom line is, if the surface is chipped, it will corrode unless you catch it immediately. Obviously if it’s poorly prepared prior to coating, you...

Cheers Richard, shall try and make this one. The car may still be on SORN, but progress is being made, so I won't feel like a fraud! :)
Don’t worry, having a car on SORN by no means disqualifies you from joining in - you’ll see!

Re: Iron cross wheels

Yours are Speedline wheels - the style was originally designed by Oliver Winterbottom for the Esprit, then used on some S2.2 elites, all S2.2 eclats, and the early Excels before they moved to 15” wheels. There was an iron cross wheel available as an option, sourced from Toyota I believe. The wheels ...

Club register

I’m very grateful to Tony Dakin (metblue on the forum) for offering to be Register Secretary for the club. He will also join the club committee. Tony will post in due course with his plans for a register of cars and has already received a detailed list of the Excel Celebration and subsequent cars cr...

Thanks RBG - I'm a (silent so far) member of all of the ones you've just mentioned (can't find the lotus excel tourers one actually but perhaps I've missed it).
This should work ... https://www.facebook.com/groups/174212968044126

Or search fb for The Lotus Grand Tourers

Re: Elite Award for Safety

A shame Oliver isn’t around to contribute his views. Not many people know that he moved on to vehicle safety systems design and managed the project to introduce airbags to volume Opel cars in Europe, as well as similar projects in the USA. His projects typically came in below cost and time. I think ...

Re: Ideas for display boards please

We had 4 display boards at the NEC, intended to be fixed to the centre column on the stand by double sided tape. Good plan, but sticking anything to painted concrete proved a challenge, with each board falling to the floor on several occasions ( hence the now cropped corners in photo below). If any...

Re: 2022 Calendar - go/no go

Ok - I have the appropriate envelopes for shipping the calendars arriving in the week. The cost of postage is £1.99 2nd class plus £0.40 for the envelope making £2.39. The calendars are £15.00 each so the total cost is £17.39. I will be in touch with everyone who has pre-ordered a calendar by email ...
