Re: Paint Job Cost
I'd be happy enough to see the sunroof go - it doesn't help headroom for a 6'3" driver, and a little water has been known to collect then spill into my lap when parked in the rain. The catch doesn't even hold it open properly when I do try to use it. Equally, can I be bothered with the trouble and ...

Re: Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show 2021
Don’t worry Richard, there will be a new thread for the 2022 show, so abuse this thread as much as you wish! Actually it’s a great place to put Resto show type restoration topics in place of the real thing.

This is where I hoped to post a photograph, but my OneDrive does not show any Embed function once I have located the photo. I managed before but perhaps a dreaded Update has changed things. I got this far only Any suggestions? David, check that you are using OneDrive via your browser, not locally o...

Here is a nice bit of auto gearbox control ‘porn:’ https://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/compushift-3.html Fully programmable ecu so you can set torque converter lockups as well as controlling shifts and speeds. You can even setup tiptronic operation - I believe the Porsche 928 used this. Off top...

Re: Elite fuel filler caps etc
That they are simply ... holes, and only present on vented caps. There is no system in the vented cap that would prevent fuel leakage from these holes, although they do have a ball valve system on other designs they produce. The conclusion Is that vented caps should never be used on the Elite as the...

Re: Elite fuel filler caps etc
Thanks David, interesting thoughts about the Jag system. Anyway I drove up to Wolverhampton this morning to collect my critical spares - the fuel cap repair kits - from Ceandess. Lots of other people on the road all doing their essential journeys. Had a great welcome when I pulled into their car par...

Re: New member - Excel SA
I believe the jag ones are fully electronic and there is a gearbox ecu.
I guess the ram could be mounted remotely and used to actuate a cable, which would at least mean you wouldn’t have the issues of using a cable selector lever.
Woke up early this morning!

Re: New member - Excel SA
I wonder if something from this product range (or similar) could be used with a selector switch and position sensor to replace the cable shift?

Re: Elite fuel filler caps etc
The vent is a hole maybe 0.5mm in diameter in the central circular plate on the inside of the cap - you will need your specs on to see it!! Easy to overlook. I'll see if I can get a photo. Both caps look identical. Pete I see what you mean Pete! My disks have no hole, but their website shows that b...

Re: Elite fuel filler caps etc
Thanks Pete.
Now I’m having doubts as to whether my fuel caps are vented or not - looking at the ceandess website I can’t see any visual differences and they both have the same spring loaded seal!
