Nice one, Tony! If I'd known it was that simple...
Ref the grommet sealing, you might want to look at that anyway as I might not have re-sealed it the last time it was disturbed.

Good luck with the old girl, Tony. I am glad she has found a great new home and owner.
I guess I was just used to pressing harder on the clutch pedal! The thought of assuming the position to adjust the clutch didn't entice me into trying it again...

Re: Ghostly goings on!
Not at the motors but there are relays and electronic modules in circuit, in the passenger footwell side.
I obviously spoke too soon; the lights were up again this morning. Ah well.

Re: Ghostly goings on!
My car has on occasion performed this "undocumented feature", most recently in the past few days. It wasn't until this evening that I realised why... I had removed the car's stereo a while back to swap with one from another car. As it happened, I put the same stereo back in at the weekend but realis...

Re: Lotus Excel - major milestones
There were fifteen cars built in 1992 rather than sixteen. I do have details of all of them plus the rest of the 92MY cars that were built in '91, and almost have all of the Celebration cars. I was planning on posting up details when my research is completed.

Re: Elite boot lid "Push Here To Close" label
You can still buy the Valvoline one, can't you? I am sure I have seen them for sale at one of the specialists.

Re: Elite boot lid "Push Here To Close" label
It might also be worth contacting Dan at divinehandcraft.co.uk as he is a Lotus owner who does stickers (well-known on other Lotus forums). I should have mentioned him yesterday!

Re: Elite boot lid "Push Here To Close" label
I am pretty sure that the font is called "Jackson" and the version used by Lotus is a heavy or bold style. Your recreation is a good effort but the lines are too straight; the horizontal edges should have a curve to them. You can download the font yourself and then get some made by somewhere like St...

My car is still available, I haven't made too much effort to sell it but it is not getting used so would be better in a new home.

Re: Is this the last Excel?
Absolutely. However, in this case I don't think that applies. It seems to me that it was quite deliberate to choose a VIN for the final car and then build other cars up to that number. But they didn't actually build that many and thus there is a gap where no VINs were used, and the final car (pictur...

Re: Is this the last Excel?
I have had a chance to check my records now and it is likely that the car above is the final chassis number and the car built for Hazel Chapman. I only have it recorded as being red, but it makes perfect sense that this is it.
It was not the final car built (completed), however.
