Re: BRAKE problem.........
OK, a quick update............ I've been driving her for a while with the brake problem and it's got no worse (no better either though!) When sitting at idle with the brake pedal pushed down, the pedal pulses in time with the engine. Is this something to do with the servo being fed from No1 cylinder...

Re: BRAKE problem.........
Hi Chaps, I've been out and tried starting her with the pedal pushed. It does drop and becomes more responsive once she's running so I'm hoping the servo is OK. The vacuum hose looks OK and the jubilee clip is tight. The fluid level is near the max and I can't see any fluid leaks anywhere. Does this...

BRAKE problem.........
Hi everyone, Yesterday whilst driving a brake problem began occuring! Every time the pedal is pushed it drops quickly about an inch and there is a hissing sound (air escaping?) The brakes then grab quite hard. I can still brake okay but it's very worrying. Previously there have been a couple of time...

It was a "slave" for the production design.Simpatico wrote:Just out of interest, how did it end up being painted/complete and never put on a car

Re: Excel Bonnet for sale.......early model.....BRAND NEW!!!!!!!
Thanks Jerry,
I'm open to any enlightenment as I have no idea what it's from!
It's the same shape as my '86 Excel bonnet but mine has the side vents so I'm none too wise on the matter.
Maybe Elite or Eclat then?

It looks as if I'm the one with most ignorance....
So far I've been told it's for a late Excel, an Elite and an Eclat!
Here is a pic so if it looks as if it will fit yours it's still here for sale!

Re: Rad fans x2
Thanks guys,
I bought a headlamp motor from evil fleabay for £16 which should arrive anytime now.
Good news that the fans are quite common as Mk1 fiesta bits are fairly hard to find. I'll widen my search and hopefully find some soon.

Rad fans x2
I'm after 2x rad fans for my '86 SE Excel.
I'm told they are Mk1 Fiesta items but I can't seem to find any at the scrappies.
Does anyone have any?
Thanks.

Re: Replacing HT leads

Re: Replacing HT leads
At Last.....I've dragged myself out in the cold to replace the HT leads. The Bosch ones seem to be fine and I think she's running a bit smoother and with better response. The Bosch part number is "B868" and they fit Ford Capri's, Granadas and the Isuzu Trooper. Whilst out in the cold I did some test...

Re: Are these Legal?
I'm with Oz, once the wear markers reach the surface it's time for replacement. Been there a couple of times myself and it always looks like there is plenty of tread left but the grooves will no longer be deep enough to safely channel water so wet driving will be lots of fun

The bonnet wasn't the right fit for Gordon as his was a later car so it's still available. I would like to sell soon so get in touch folks.

Excel Bonnet for sale.......early model.....BRAND NEW!!!!!!!
I have an early model Excel bonnet for sale. It is Calypso Red and has never been fitted to a car. It is complete with all catches, centre black grill and all sound deadening. Even a used bonnet will set you back £80 plus grill, plus catches from most Lotus spares dealers. I'm after £70 complete and...
