Is there any chance the forum could get those characterised so we have a data sheet for NOS dampers. Would help specialists to develop dampers with near original specs. It can be done without damaging them.

That’s my car and dash! Thanks for sharing.
The interior is actually blue, but that photo makes it look black.

Re: How far should the drivers door open
The later vehicles (89MY onwards) from memory have doors that open wider than the earlier cars, due to customer complaints. Looking at the parts manual there are different part numbers for the early cars to the 89 MY cars. A089U0735J = LH Door Beam Early Cars A089U0736J = RH Door Beam Early Cars C08...

Re: Elite roof and tailgate hinge assembly
Hello Richard It is possible to make gas struts where the final part of the opening travel (extending) is damped, so that it slows the opening speed in the last section of travel and reduces the shock to the item it is supporting. A classic example of gas struts that act like this are DeLorean door ...

Re: New Lotus logo
Good to see people are still using Microsoft Paint. Lovely.
It looks really cheap and nasty. I think they were trying to hark back to the 50 / 60’s logo, but the execution wasn’t the best!

Re: bye bye excel??
Hi Chris, Sorry to hear about the accident. Firstly, I hope you and all involved are OK? With regard to your Excel, to echo the comments from other forum members, it is possible to fix fairly brutal looking fiberglass damage. I have seen several professional repairs over the years on fiberglass cars...

Re: Back in an Excel
Hi Dave,
The renovation cost was £200 (with VAT) + £15 postage.
I tried to buy new items from Classic Dash, but they never returned my calls or emails, so decided to get my original ones refurbished.

Re: Back in an Excel
So, been making the final push to finish off the interior in my car. One thing that has always let it down is the state of the wood panels. After 30 years, they were starting to look faded and the lacquer was beginning to flake off around the vents and heater controls. Earlier this month I sent the ...
