Re: Which Oil filter

It has one anti-drain valve but does not have the clean-side anti-drain valve. crs_20 tried one and found the slow oil pressure problem with it here:

Re: Which Oil filter

Bringing this thread back from the grave! Is the Mann W916/1 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MGB-1-8-Mann-Oil-Filter-Screw-On-Spin-On-OE-Quality-Performance-Service-Engine/223212131745) oil filter still regarded as a decent one to get? Preferable is Mahle OC141, failing that try the Halfords HOF202 but...

Re: Nissens Radiators?

That's the thing - they get the model changeover year right in the descriptions, but I don't actually know the dimensions of the original to check and, even though mine is leaking, I can't afford to take it out to check because the car's in use so often. However - reports elsewhere suggest that the...

Re: Supplier for Stainless nuts?

I suppose that you know that stainless steel bolts / nuts have a slightly lower tensile strength than either 8.8 or 10.9 high tensile steel items and as long as you know thier limitations thats fine. Bash Thanks for the info. They are lower but not really significantly so, here is an interesting ta...

Re: Value your Excel if you dare!

Interesting that this thread is about now as we were discussing this very issue in the pub the other night. Well I wouldn't sell my 87 SA for anything less than £20k - £25k and even at that value I would still be quite reluctant to sell. Am I correct in thinking that there were only nineteen SA's ma...

Re: Supplier for Stainless nuts?

Turns out what I need is Type-P nuts (normal height) as opposed to the more readilly available Type-T nuts (low-profile).

Supplier for Stainless nuts?

Has anyone found a good supplier for stainless nylocks? I wanted to get some M8's but many of those in my local places are all very low profile, not as tall as normal nylocks. There are loads of suppliers on ebay but can't tell which one are decent nuts and which not.

Anyone on here a member of the Owners Club who could borrow those patterns for me?

Re: Nose-cone wooden support panels

In the end I found a couple of plastic pipe fittings with screw-on end caps from a local plumbers merchents which just about squeezed into the rubber pipes.

Re: Front spring rates & other specs

Ride height on the new springs is just about perfect, maybe 1/2" higher than the original (saggy) springs but without the extra top spacer required.

Re: Nose-cone wooden support panels

You can get replacements from LotusBits and somewhere (I can't find where at the moment, but someone on this forum will know) someone has produced a very full write-up, with pictures, of how to replace these plywood parts. If anyone can find that article it would be very helpful. Here is a fairly r...
