Poly Bushes

Evening all I moved house a few months ago and found a set of rear suspension poly bushes. I bought them as part of a group buy on here but never got round to fitting them and I no longer have the car. I'll probably stick them on ebay but if anyone on here is interested I'll accept a reasonable offe...

Re: A Cautionary Tale!!!!!!!!

Exactly the same thing happened to me shortly after I'd rebuilt the engine. It might not be as bad as you think, I'd smashed a couple of cam buckets and bent a couple of exhaust valves. I managed to get a second hand cam carrier from ebay and replaced the damage parts, all told I think it cost me a ...

Re: Why modify when replacing with original is best?

Afternoon, just been reading the thread with interest. Each to their own I say, I had considered modifying the Excel as in moderns terms the straightline speed was always a bit on the tame side but given the costs involved I went for an s1 elise and now have a modern Europa S with 225 BHP. The Elise...

Re: Tapping noise on idle

Have a look at the valve on the brake servo, mine had a really bad tapping sound at tickover and was traced to this, a common fault apparently.

Re: Engine Rebuild?

Mine went at 106,000, with full service history, one of the liners broke down, damaged the piston and head. My brothers smashed a big end to pieces and damaged the crank beyond repair at a similar mileage. Most people who I talked to about the rebuild suggested that this was pretty much the norm but...

Re: Silk Red Excel for Sale

It will need an engine rebuild fairly soon if it hasn't already had one. Thats one of the problems with the Excel, they can very expensive very quickly. I gave mine up because it needed substantial investment and in standard form they're not particularly quick. That said I would have another one bec...

I suspect that is due to driving ability rather than the cars performance

Re: Left Overs

Sorry I have now sold the parts. Oz I only got a few hundred quid for mine, it was in a pretty sorry state to be fair and need extensive work. That was the main reason for getting rid as it made no sense to spend 1000's on it given the prices they are selling for. I got a standard s1 elise and I hav...

Re: Left Overs

I've also found 3 of the 4 handbrake shoes, I would imagine the 4th is somewhere so I'll try and dig it out. I'll include the handbrake shoes with the other stuff. I paid £150 just for the back plates so I was hoping for £200 for the lot.

Left Overs

Hi Guys,

I'm afraid the old girl has gone and been replaced with an Elise. I have some bits left over if anyone is interested before they go on ebay.

All new Genuine parts

Rear discs
Rear pads with all the clips
Rear back plates (Brand new but with a couple of little surface rust spots)
