Re: Wing mirror oddity on an excel
Can't say I'm too keen on those Fiat mirrors. I think mirrors from modern cars tend to look too bulky for the Excel. Then again the O.E. Citroen CX mirrors are a hard act to follow - they have to be the best looking door mirrors ever. It's just a shame they suffer from Citroen build quality. Welcome...

Re: Wheel Paint
Were your wheels painted or power coated ?
Personal experience has led me to be no fan of powder coating. I'm sure it's used only because it's a lot easier and cheaper to apply than actual paint.

Re: Peter James Insurance price hike
Peter, I have to say how offended I am by your remark. I used to be a journalist before I opened my estate agency and I can tell you I currently have many satisfied clients. I also intend to stand for Parliament at the next general election in 2024. Last year my wife left a successful career in bank...

Re: Peter James Insurance price hike
Give Adrian Flux Insurance a try Peter. I've used them for years and found their prices to be very good. They insure me for commuting in the Excel which a lot of companies won't entertain. I also found their service to be very good when my previous Excel was written off and the other party attempted...

Blimey it's a nice looking late model car but even for a dealer £17k seems a tad ambitious. Having said that good luck to him

Thanks for your help chaps, all OK again.
I had replaced fuse no.13 "Instruments" and not fuse no.9 "Panel Lamps". Fuse no.9 was blown.
Top tip - when consulting the handbook read it properly !

Instument panel lights out
Just wondered if anyone has come across this problem before. The bulb in my oil pressure gauge had failed which I established by swapping the bulb with one from an adjacent instrument. I turned the lights off, fitted a new bulb and switched the lights back on to find all of the instrument bulbs were...

Re: Water Ingress
A bit of a late update but it may be of some use to anyone having problems with water finding its way under the back seat cushions. Last winter I finally solved the problem with a spray can of Rustoleum Leak Stop. I sprayed the stuff into the gap between the fixed rear side window and the bodywork. ...

Congratulazioni Mauro, it is good to see an early Excel being rescued and put back into use.
