Re: Lotus videos

I was looking for the active ride Excel but this was the nearest I could get to it. Interesting tho. Its a pity it ended up on a scorpion tank system.

Headlights

Not been out in the dark too much lately but I noticed that my headlights had got a slight jer jer jiggle. I thought the rods had developed some play on the lift mechanism, during the 25 years + that Ive had the car I have never touched them. But it was a very simple fix so I thought I would pass it...

Re: Gear Lever Removal and Gaiter Replacement

It will stretch over the base of the lever (edit), the base of the lever has a metalistic type of bush in it which you can see on the following link and is very difficult to get out if impossible without major surgery. You may find that the nylon cup underneath it has disintigrated tho ! Try putting...

Re: Just for fun!

Correct. Its not the force exerted by the motor thats important but the area of the diaphram because its atmospheric pressure ( about 14psi at sea level I seem to remember from the dimness of my memory ) exerted on the area of the diaphram, and you will only get that if the vacuum behind it is perfe...

Just to muddy the water, I thought early Esprits used Opal hubs, am I wrong ? Anyway, the Toyota style wheels DO fit the Excel, as for the others I dont know.

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

Might be worth backflushing the radiator and checking that the fans come on at the right temp. Im running a V8 on the standard radiator and it doesnt overheat even in 30degree temps. When I had the Lotus engine in it didnt overheat once in 20 years of regular use so Im sure yours shouldnt be difficu...

Re: Rear brake dust shields

They are made of unobtainium and when they get too bad people just remove them, it wont cause any issues at MOT time. When I used to do track days in another car I used to remove them anyway, it never caused any issues.

Re: Excel Interior Update

My view is that the rear seat is an easy fix because it looks like the leather stiching has failed rather than the leather itself. The fix probably wont be quick though because the leather needs alot of feeding first to make it more supple. The rear seat assembly comes out very easily, two screws on...
