Great job Richard, thank you for pulling this together. Good news too that Oliver is finally on the way home.

Re: Seat Frame Repair and Woolies Leather Renovation

Looks excellent Bryan, you must be very happy with it. The area behind the binnacle is really difficult to get right - I had the same issue with mine. Love the mascot in the centre console :D Andy Thanks Andy! Zippy has lived there since I bought the car in 2007, and it's never let me down. So ther...

Re: Seat Frame Repair and Woolies Leather Renovation

2 months, 1.25 litres of dye, 2 pots of sealing paste, and 4 cans of airbrush propellant later, it's finished! What I thought would be be a nice week-long furlough project turned into quite a marathon. But the results were definitely worth it. After a shaky start, my technique definitely improved, t...

White Excel, A5 near Oswestry, 22/8/20

Just seen a white early model Excel being transported on a trailer, heading South on the A5 near Oswestry about midday on 22nd August, anyone on here? I was heading north in my daily driver (Excel interior still currently in bits!)

Re: Just for fun!

A salutory lesson in force = pressure x area I once heard about concerns defibrillators on aircraft. They are fitted in a rugged yellow case, say 24" x 12" in size. There is normally a pressure equalization valve fitted to ensure pressure inside the case equals the pressure outside, i.e. the cabin p...

Re: Gear Lever Removal and Gaiter Replacement

Well it worked! Amazing what you can achieve with a bit of heat and some lube! The warmed gaiter slid easily over the greased lever, and into the correct position - job done. Thanks for the suggestion Pete! Gear lever seat and bush also replaced, the old one was literally in hundreds of tiny...

Gear Lever Removal and Gaiter Replacement

Has anyone managed to separate the thick, silvered, portion of the gear lever from the lower part of the lever? I need to remove mine in order to replace the gearbox gaiter, which has split. Looking under the thick part of the lever, the shaft is much narrower and should fit through the new gaiter. ...

Re: Cooling issues on 92 SE

One other significant thing to consider. If the link tube between the two chambers is blocked then the first chamber will over-pressurise and eventually leak. These tubes tend to block if you don't have fluid in both chambers at all times ..or the first chamber isn't completely filled. It's a bound...

Re: Seat Frame Repair and Woolies Leather Renovation

Thank you everyone for your comments, I'm having a bit more success now. Richard - I think you're right, there was some kind of sealer / lacquer on the leather. The Woolies cleaner, used with sufficient vigour, seemed to take it off along with some of the original colour, leaving brown leather visib...

Seat Frame Repair and Woolies Leather Renovation

With a month on furlough ahead of me, and some time on my hands, what could be more therapeutic than a bit of easy leather renovation? I've been meaning to do it for years. However it has not, so far, been the relaxing experience I hoped for... I sent a sample of leather off to Woolies for them to m...

Re: Oliver Winterbottom

Hi Richard, please can you add Bryan Barker (the Club Lotus Avon slide show man!) to the card. I've had the pleasure of meeting Oliver 3 times, twice at the Club Lotus Avon meetings where he gave fascinating and humourous talks (and I managed to overcome some IT issues to get his slide show working,...
