Re: New formulation of Valvoline VR1 Racing 20W-50 oil
I should imagine the changes are improvements and keeping it up to date with the latest technology. Nothing to worry about. I will carry on using it - mainly because I have 6 litres in the loft!

Re: Classic Obsession
The Elite we have on the Club Lotus Stand is in an Esprit colour - only 2 made in that colour and the other one belonged to Mike Kimberley.

Re: Jerry Taylor
Just read this and was really shocked. Had no idea he was ill. Really hard to believe. Shaun - if you are in contact with Di please send condolences from me and Lynne. He was always such a big character at Lotus in the Peak and guaranteed good conversation and a few laughs. I remember when we were o...

Re: Classic Obsession
I had a chat with him at the restoration show in 2023 and he had ordered a new chassis for the car from Lotusbits but I have not seen that on his channel. https://1drv.ms/i/s!Aht1LHeh8XnIh-g44UhczdWMKE1cDw?embed=1&width=3456&height=2592 Incidently - Club Lotus is next to you at the NEC. We intended ...

Instead of single flares could they be these? Taken from LotusMonkey's link.

Re: Brake Failure!
I ordered the pipe from SJ Sports cars yesterday, it arrived this morning, I bent it to shape and fitted it this afternoon - no problems. The pipe was a genuine Lotus part still in its original packaging made in 2003 according to the label. The calliper end was a single flare and the other end (3-wa...

Re: Brake Failure!
Hmm, you probably can't see well enough in this pic. https://www.sjsportscars.com/parts-and-accessories/A089J0325P.htm https://www.sjsportscars.com/files/A089J0325P.JPG No, you can't see in the picture but for that price, I might as well buy that. Just needs bending correctly first time. Cheaper th...

Re: Brake Failure!
Single or double flare. ? I go by looking what the fitting screws into -or on to. The non caliper end is a Tee IIRC, which likely had an internal similar to you would get with a drill and tap. For me that's a bubble (or single flare). The other end connects to the flexible, which has a 'convex' 90 ...

Re: Brake Failure!
Going to my other problem - does it seem correct that the brake pipe I am replacing has a double flare at one end and a bubble on the other? If I did a double on both ends would it leak at the connection where the bubble had been?

Re: Brake Failure!
I used 0.5 mm using the below tool and its been fine. If it is too small you will find the brakes starting to bind on. If this happens and you are out and about slightly loosen the master cylinder mounts as a get you home measure but at 0.5 mm Ive had no problems. Bash https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/40...

Re: Brake Failure!
Looking at the end of the pipe - not the caliper end, the other end - it looks like a bubble flare. I guess a double flare won't work?
Edit: Just had a look at the Caliper end and that looks like double flare! Confused or what. I need to buy a flare tool but which one.

Brake Failure!
After going to a show at Bishops Castle, I was on my way home in the Excel on an A road and had to turn right onto a B road. Pressed the brake pedal to slow down and my foot went to the floor! I couldn't make the turn so went straight on instead. I was on the verge of calling someone out to tow me h...
