Re: Elite restoration begins!

Definitely LOTUS-BOOLE. You've earned it๐Ÿ‘.

And I'd go further to say it would add value. The build is fairly well-documented on here, and lotusexcel.net as a peer-reviewed forum supports its provenance, and its approval must add weight and gravitas for all things Lotus GT๐Ÿ˜Œ?

Anyhow, just do it! ๐Ÿ˜

Re: Elite restoration begins!

Engineering master piece. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

I'd love to hear it screaming on a Dyno at 7000rpm. What's the expected output? Hopefully you'll post the numbers / curves on here at some point. Brilliant as ever. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Re: Gps speedo

I use a dash top GPS Speedo in the Clan and, tbh, I've never watched it when accelerating hard. Too busy watching the car I'm chasing, or the rear view mirror for cops. But one thing's for sure, I find it much easier to follow and register a bright high contrast OLED speed number than an analogue po...

Re: Excel Just sold

Low tick over, but at barely warm, the oil pressure is 2 bar, and the alternator isn't charging. I'd want to test/ review oil pressure at least. Otherwise it's a very nice car and a bargain price for a real Lotus.

Re: Elite restoration begins!

Amazing stuff. Especially interested in the oil pump mods. Most of us worry about oil pressure and flow. Can't wait to hear more once up and running.๐Ÿ‘

Re: New comer - Progress (edit)

The torque converter is very heavy - it makes lifting the gearbox almost impossible on your own (if you're weedy like me!). However - the main reason for taking it off is that if it shifts for any reason it will break the oil pump drive dogs inside the gearbox - lots of trouble! Stuart's brace look...

You'd be better to remove the torque converter completely before transporting the gearbox .
Hey Pete, for us (non auto) manual box virgin thickies, can you explain that one? ๐Ÿค” Eg. Is it heavy?

Re: Steering Rack removal

I got mine out through the driver's wheel arch about 18 years ago. I put a manual rack in same way. Then recently I put the variable rack back in, but I had the engine out doing a clutch at the time. But it does come out through the wheel arch. ๐Ÿ‘

Re: Anti Roll Bar bushes..

Sounds right to me, under braking the roll bar will be forced into the rear of the bush which is what was said, so that's where the solid side of the bush should be. I'm glad you've posted that. I read last night just before bed time and the grey matter just kept churning. But every time I came to ...

Re: Excel article 1985

Graham was no fool, he knew how to spin (and how to subtly cheat by fitting uprated engines in press cars)! Sadly, Colin let him go, but Graham could also sell Graham, so he got a second term as sales director, IIRC.

Re: Polestar

I see volvo wants to offload its shares in polestar (48 percent), it will be interesting to see what geely do as they are a major shareholder and comes on the back of a few major manufacturers offloading thier electric divisions. Perhaps reports of the death of combustion engines is a little premat...

A 70 mile trip with a stall in Burford high street and no start for 5 long minutes. A least nothing over took me (they couldn't get past really) .
I hope Harry wasn't filming you. It could ruin our reputation if that got out! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
