HI

Had the same thing looking at mine from behind, replaced all the shocks and springs two weeks ago, sorted out the ride height and the handling is now way better than before. The dampers and springs that came off the car were really tired after 17 years!!

HI Angus Mine has this surround and as you say does seem to spread the load around the edge of the hole for the handle. Have found that the design of the fixing for the captive nut to be very weak point as its a round nut (no idea what it should be called) and that any lateral movement of the handle...

Hi Angus

When you say replacement part was from a triumph are you refering to the latch mechanism that the connecting rods attach to. If so can you remember which model its off as mine has failed this morning !

Hi Peter

Did a little checking when I bought it and it would seem that the build date is early 89 and registered ( from memory) around the middle of the year - will check the paperwork tonight though to refresh the memory.
