Re: Excel Door hang adjustment - help needed

Thanks Pete,

The hinge doesn't seem warn, no real play if you try lifting the door. Could be wrong, but I think someone might of leant a bit heavily on the door, making is lower on the latch end than it should be. Hopefully an easy job for the weekend as long as not too cold:-)

Excel Door hang adjustment - help needed

Hi, I need some help with door hang adjustment. My driver side door on my 88 Excel seems to of dropped slightly, maybe 3mm, and needs adjustment back. What's the best method? Is there adjustment on the hinge bolts inside the door frame or do you need to remove the door card and adjust with the bolts...

Re: Help! Diff refill plug removal

Many thanks Bash & Stu,

All done now with a shallow 24mm socket and breaker bar. Nut is a bit rounded, which wasn't helping, but at least I managed to get some oil in.

All the best

Help! Diff refill plug removal

Hi, trying to remove the diff plus and it's proving tricker than I'd hoped! I've tried a 24mm and 15/16 socket with a universal joint and short extension around the back of the suspension arms, shallow 15/16 swan neck ring spanner, socket on a 600mm bar. Nothing is getting is working well enough to ...

Sender resistance values

Hi all, hoping for a bit of a shortcut here 🤞 I'm planning to fit a Spiyda gauge wizard to to sort out my annoyingly erratic fuel gauge. To calibrate, you need to measure the sender resistance at 5 points: empty, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full. Has anyone already done this and have the readings for an Excel? M...

Re: Speaker Replacement using Original Grilles and Mounts

Thank you Bryan, very useful post 😃, one if my front speakers is dead and the others sound terrible. Not expecting audiophile performance, but I think I will take the same route:-).

Re: Fuel System Cleaners - any good?

Back in the 'seventies I regularly added some Wynn's Racing Formula to the oil, with each oil change. This was to a 1000cc Minivan. The performance of that Minivan was quite remarkable, happy to cruise at 70+ and would regularly show 90 on the speedo. A cop who stopped me on one occasion tried to t...

Re: Fuel System Cleaners - any good?

Sounds good. My Excel on last MOT was CO .91, although may just need a carb tune of course. HC about the same.

Fuel System Cleaners - any good?

Anyone have any experience & opinion on fuel system cleaners like Redex, Liquid Moly, Wynn's, STP etc? The last time I used Redex was on a MK1 escort in the 80s, all I remember was a very impressive plume of smoke as I assume carbon deposits were cleared out All claim cleaning valves, pistons, jets,...
