Re: 215/50r15 back in production

Good website that Mr Locust - liking the idea of the 195 55 15's now that I can see the relative percentages.

Re: New member - new owner

It's seriously heavy (comparatively). I'll take some photos and post them up (and I'll weigh it too). Only downside is that it's not a threaded insert, but just a plastic smooth one. Perhaps the weight makes the gearchange more positive perhaps? I've got my eye on something that I'll reveal when I'v...

Re: New member - new owner

Ok.....finally got the gearknob off.....it's, I think, an aftermarket one, judging by the fact it says 'momo' on it and was simply glued to the shaft rather than screwed onto it as I think they should be. Can you even get OEM gearknobs any more or should I just go for it and choose something I like?...

I'm seriously considering veltrim.....wondering if anyone else has gone a different route than the standard replacement.

I went with 205/55-R15's too, Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance and very pleased after around 1500 dry miles, can't comment on wet performance though. Nice slightly more compliant ride and look good in the wheel arch.

Good to hear too Mike, thanks for taking the time to comment.

You were happy with them Chris? Didn't look out of place or anything?

Re: 215/50r15 back in production

Hi everyone - is there any reason why I couldn't buy 215 45 15's instead of 215 50 15's? I'd change the spare to the 45 too (it's currently an original dunlop from 1987 by the looks of it!). Apart from a slightly harsher ride there's no reason why I couldn't is there? They're £73.90 on Camskill (and...

Re: I've been seduced by the dark side

Interested to hear your thoughts on the GT3 compared to your Excel (and living with an Esprit in general).

Why were you concerned incidentally? And does it get more attention? (I'm not sure it will tbh)

Re: New member - new owner

I'm thinking of using the 4 way stretch Veltrim (with high temp glue) for the roof lining. About £35-£45 all in I think.

Re: New member - new owner

How do you remove the Lotus gearknob? Is it a twist-off or do you pull it? Separately - wife is v poorly at the moment and starts 6 months of chemo in Mid-October. I'm trying to grab 30 mins here, 20 mins there to inch the Lotus along to finishing it but it's not easy. No pictures or anything at the...

Re: Introducing / Reintroducing Myself

Hi Mike - good introduction! I've an Excel, in bits at the moment, but with other stuff (ill wife) taking precedent at the moment. I think there's a great community spirit on here - when you've got a problem people on here either have the direct knowledge to answer or have excellent ideas for ways o...

Re: New member - new owner

Hi everyone

My wife is extremely ill (cancer) at the moment; life (and thus the Lotus) is all on hold, whilst we put all our energies into her treatment and recovery. I continue to try to get some time on 'Doug' but understandably, life/kids/cookig/household/etc etc takes priority.
