Re: Lotus Excel Rear Seat-belt fixing

Does the screw/bolt just come out or do you have to get inside the car to actually get these off? Both mine need changing......but to my mind it looks like you need two people to get these off?

Re: New member - new owner

Andrew - thanks for this advice. It looks like the entire week (for me, near Tenby, Pembrokeshire), is looking much much warmer so was going to leave it to the end of the week (shed does get hot) so any moisture has come out (for the most part). No one is going to see it (especially after I've rapto...

Re: New member - new owner

And so.............progress has been a tad quiet recently but stuff is definitely happening. It's been too cold to fibreglass the crash boards in (in my opinion - might be wrong) but there's better weather this week so that's the plan. Then i can get the new radiator in - there's a bit of fettling t...

Re: New member - new owner

Morning everyone..................progress is quietly being made. It's all centred around the crash boards this last 4 weeks or so. I've made my own (by using the one good one as a template - even though much of the lower element was missing. I simply started out with too much board and cut/offer up...

Re: New member - new owner

I've looked at that option too (215 45 15) but was concerned that perhaps the slightly smaller sidewall would have a disproportionate effect on the ride. Be v interested to hear your thoughts. I'd also looked at 205 55 15's (and even 195 55 15's) but thought there was more choice at 205 50 (and yep,...

Re: New member - new owner

For such a simple car she doesn't half like to fight you. I'm ready to put the engine back together........but before I do that I need to change the two marine-ply crash structures (got everything for them, good to go) but in order to change them I've got to get the U-shaped cover off (with the horn...

Re: New member - new owner

Thanks for your kind words - been offline again for a week or so..........combination of a friend buying an austin sprite (and the clutch giving up 5 miles after he bought it up in Aberystwyth) so my Lotus work took a step back so we could get the engine out and clutch changed on that first. Such a ...

Re: New member - new owner

I'm still trying to find the time to get the dashboard out.......mucking about with the binnacle at the moment..........does that come o...

Re: New member - new owner

And that was the weekend gone.............where I managed to achieve..................absolutely nothing on the Lotus. Sometimes you just have to accept defeat and look forwards. We've realised that the wife isn't quite up to a full day's activity - that as much as she wants to carry on as if nothin...

Re: New member - new owner

Lozza - mine's an SE, 1987 so I'm guessing the fans are from something else? (if anyone knows, please do share!) Pete - I'll take some tomorrow - I've repaired the bases (and documented on here) but.....they don't have the wow factor. I'm going to keep them in storage and buy rx8's. Thanks for the h...

Re: New member - new owner

........And so it begins again............my wife is slowly recovering and, as far as is possible, life is returning to normal (although with an added 'carpe diem' urgency to it). Which means I'm now about to start hammering the Lotus. I really want it MOT'd by May 3rd - I'm going to meet some frien...

Re: New member - new owner

Lozza pls accept my apologies, wife is extremely ill at the moment (hospital for 4 days over xmas sadly). I rarely have time to come on to the forum at the moment (should be better from mid-feb on - the last chemo session is early feb). On the radiator - not used it in anger yet. It does need some f...

Re: 215/50r15 back in production

Good website that Mr Locust - liking the idea of the 195 55 15's now that I can see the relative percentages.

Re: New member - new owner

How do you get the steering wheel off? is there a method to prising out the horn button in the middle (without breaking it!)?
