Re: loose aerial
Yes, there is a screw in there. I've loosened mine to lower it a bit to fit under my GTO on the lift above.

Re: Excel Radiator Options?
Installed the radiator a few days ago. Other than opening up the mounting holes to accommodate the larger mounting studs it went right in! It was just slightly shorter than the original, which allowed me to put rubber bushings on the studs, between the radiator and the fiberglass. Overall, impressed...

Re: Excel Radiator Options?
The GPI radiator was delivered last weekend. It looks like a decent quality piece. The welds look soooooo much nicer than I've seen in the pics of the Winner radiator. I'll post pics of it side by side with the old one when I get around to swapping them out.

Re: Excel Radiator Options?
Thank you for the responses! I looked at your link- it's really helps me understand the issues with mounting the Winner. I think that I'm going to try the other option- The GPI Racing- unless someone comes on here with negative info about it. After looking at all the pics and measurements it looks l...

Excel Radiator Options?
As some of you may have seen on the FB page yesterday- My '85 Excel decided that it had been running flawlessly for too long, so it decided to empty the contents of the radiator at 60 mph as I was driving home from a drive with the Litchfield Lotus Group. It could have been worse- it was the end of ...

Re: Hub Centric Rings for Konig Rewinds
FWIW, I run a 225/50/15 Kumho Ecsta AST on the stock wheels on my Excel. Fills up the wheel wells without any rubbing. They performed a LOT better than I expected on the autocross track and the big track at Lime Rock. Even better, they're on Amazon for $85 a piece with free delivery!

Re: USA Spec Lotus Excel
The Chairman of Lotus USA during that time lives near me, he'd be the guy to ask. He currently owns a LHD Excel and I see him from time to time. We have discussed that car a bit, though I don't recall any specifics. Next time I see him, I'll have to remember to ask him about it.

Re: Strong fuel smell.
Have you already taken out the panels in the front of the trunk (sorry, boot) that block off the fuel system? Once removed it's pretty easy to see the condition of the various parts and hoses. The tank in my car developed a pinhole at one of the spot welds for the internal baffles which allowed raw ...

Re: 86 Excel for Auction late April
It's listed as an '86, but isn't this an '85? The early style dash first caught my attention, so I looked at the VIN and it's 181 cars lower than my '85?

Re: Throttle cable replacement.
Well that would certainly make it easier! My already hurting back certainly likes that idea vs. squeezing under the dash! I suppose I could epoxy a heavy gauge aluminum sheet back over the hole to ease any fears of having weakened the structure. How big can the hole be before I hit anything that I s...

Throttle cable replacement.
My '85 Excel broke the little knob off the carb end last fall during a track day at Lime Rock. I was able to cobble together a temporary fix to continue on with my day. That cobble job is still there (and working fine) but it's time to do a proper repair. I finally got a replacement cable sent over ...

That's the original Uk number plate. You can still look it up on the gov.uk website. It was imported to the US in 2010.
