Re: 215/50r15 back in production

When I needed to replace the tyres on my Excel, I went down two widths and up a profile. From 215/50 r15 to 195/55 r15. which gets you REALLY close (within 1%) on rolling radius if you check https://tiresize.com/comparison/ I was also careful not to go overboard with the load rating. It's a light ca...

Re: Spotted White C reg

That would be me (if you were in the green Excel with the D----XL plate). Spotted you at the last moment.

A bit like an eclipse, two Excels on the same stretch of road!

We'd been over to the Caffeine and Machine pub for a spot of lunch. Pleased to report a steady stream of interest around the car.

Re: Headlights

My conversion recipe to replace Cibie lamps with corroded silvering was; Wipac 7" "Crystal" lamps - UK need RHD and no sidelamp. Wipac 7" plastic replacement bowls. I cut the back off to leave only the mounting ring with the bosses for the adjusters and the trim ring. They were pretty reasonable fro...

AVO damper bottom bush

The red poly bushes on my AVO dampers code "RA6 AVO" appear to have failed after around 2years/2kmiles. Not good. They appear to be either too too soft or the split type bush doesn't suit the application. Either way they aren't even dirty...... Does anybody have any recommendations/experience of som...

Re: Electronic Distributor

Kemal,

might be worth dropping a message to this company with your requirements. Haven't used them but they list fully electronic distributors in stock.

Re: Numbers & stats

It surprised me just how many Eclats are still known to the DVLA. In percentage terms, twice as many as either Elites or Excels.! It also surprised me that Excels are least represented of the 3 models, both by known numbers and % on the road. !! Look at that trend! It could be explained by how many...

Re: Rear brake dust shields

The outer part which forms the disc dust shield is thinner gauge steel and spot welded to the, heavier, inner plate which carries the handbrake mechanism.

It is possible to trim away the outer part in situ as you suggested.

Re: Rear brakes pads and discs

Has anyone used the the EBC discs and Ultimax pads? How were they?
Fitted front and rear, initial impressions after the first 200miles normal road use are quite positive.

Not yet. I'm hoping they will be OK. I've fitted front and rear but not used them yet.
