Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

Hi Tony - I don't know if you've come across Northampton Motorsport . I read an article about them in a Practical Classics several months ago. They took their car along (I forget what it was), then they can put it on the rolling road and they have a full range of all the Dellorto (and other carb) pa...

Re: Cobra Anti-theft device

Hi Dave, I had an aftermarket immobiliser/alarm fitted to my car too, I think the alarm may have been a Cobra but I cannot remember for sure. The immobiliser has long ago lost any label to indicate its origin! By the time I owned the car, the alarm (located under the bonnet) had been disconnected, a...

Re: Trim code?

Not that I'm aware of. The part-fabric trimmed cars, in particular, every car seems to be different, I've not seen another with the same cloth as mine.

Re: NEC Restoration Show 2024 - Discounted Tickets

Thank you - in the end there were 16 tickets sold using our club code. This is a good amount more than last year. Unfortunately the bulk of these were sold within 4 weeks of the start of the show, so they did not count towards getting extra wristbands for volunteers on the stand. I suspect the new r...

NEC Restoration Show - 21-23 March 2025

I've put in an application for next year's Resto Show at the NEC. No need to make any detailed plans yet, I'll put out a call for display cars 2-3 months before the show, although you are all welcome to make suggestions before then. I'll try and arrange my life so I can actually attend all 3 days ne...

Elite 50th Anniversary - Lancaster Insurance support

Good morning all. At the NEC Resto Show last month I was approached by Brian Thomas from Lancaster Insurance, with a very open offer - "what can we do for your club?". My initial thoughts were related to publicity, and maybe sponsorship, of our 50th Anniversary celebrations in some way. However, sin...

Re: Can I remove the inlet manifold complete with carbs?

For the manifold on the other side... I know some of the exhaust manifold nuts are a b@$t@rd to get to even with the engine out of the car, so will be worse still with it in the engine bay. I cannot remember for sure, but I suspect that when I changed the head gasket with engine in situ I took the h...

Re: Starter? Motor running on.

That's odd. I take it you have an original starter motor, not some aftermarket one? It should only be able to spin when the solenoid has engaged the starter motor gear with the flywheel. The ignition switch activates the solenoid, but the solenoid itself closes the circuit for the starter motor. If ...

Re: Lotus Garage

Any small, independent garage, run by someone over 55 (maybe 60 these days!) who's been in the business all their life, will be more than capable of doing anything on your car that isn't highly Lotus-specific. These businesses are pure gold, and need our custom!

Nothing inherently un-Lotus about 4WD:

Size and weight... well, we'll just have to console ourselves that it is more "Lotus" than the other big, heavy, luxo-SUVs out there. And (hopefully) is earning some money!

NEC Classic Motor Show 8-10 November 2024

Quick decision to be made here! I've just been contacted by Alison (main organiser for both the NEC shows), asking if we want a stand at the show in November? She's been in contact with Richard W but he hasn't put in an application yet. I've dropped him a message but no reply. TOMORROW is the closin...

Re: Elite convertible !!!!

"You have to take it all not splitting it up." In other words, buyer gets the useful trim, in return for carting the useless chassis, bodyshell and other scrap direct from his yard to the tip. And £250. Which at least is less hopelessly opportunistic than the £1500 he was asking for a year or more a...

Re: Lotus Drivers' Club meet at Weedon

Nice and local to me, but I couldn't make this event - combination of Lotus still awaiting fitment of a non-leaky radiator, and me being in Tenerife at the time! Made it to a similar event a couple of months ago, and may make future ones, good turnout and a nice location.
