Re: Emissions data
Timing and idle mixture screws haven't been touched since last year, but then neither has the air filter so it's not the newest. Still, 2,000 miles of driving shouldn't have made the filter too badly clogged. Without access to an exhaust gas analyser to see what happens, I'm reluctant to start playi...

Re: Emissions data
A year later, with 12,000 miles and 3 years since the engine rebuild (didn't do many miles in the last year!), and the scores are:
- CO - 2.44%
- HC - 751ppm

Re: Donington Historic Festival 1-2 May - CANCELLED
No apologies required, I agree entirely! I suspect when the govt. thinks of "sporting event" they are picturing people crowding into stands at a stadium, and not considering that events like Donington (and other sports like rowing, one of my other obsessions) can be had with spectators very well spr...

Re: The Winterbottom Run
Bird In Hand - I'd forgotten that name, that was certainly the preferred post-work watering hole for Lotus employees in my day. Probably still is.

Re: Roof aerial M4 screw
It is frustrating how many rust-prone screws there are on the outside of the car, exposed to elements. My latest is the number plate lights - I just want to clean them up and clean the contacts, as their operation is sporadic. But I just can't remove the screws; if I drill them I'll probably have to...

Re: The Winterbottom Run
I'm hoping to come (Midlands contingent). I won't be staying overnight, as I already have weekend plans with my parents conveniently close in Suffolk anyway. It'll be weird being in Wymondham, I haven't been to the town since I lived there while working at Lotus, I left in 1997. In those days you co...

Re: Paint Job Cost
Was the £9 the important bit ? That's for the "Environmental waste disposal charge for hazardous waste". To their credit, they have given me the most detailed breakdown of the work. Apparently they reckon it takes 30 hours to remove and refit bumpers, lights, wipers (should I negotiate for a discou...

Re: Paint Job Cost
And we have a new winner for Most Outrageous Quote! The latest comes in at £8109. Bonus points for taking 1 month and 2 days to get back to me, from the day they inspected the car. Even if the price was acceptable, they've come back long after I've already made a decision.

Re: K252 LVG
There was a handy little group of us in/near Aberdeen, but one's gone quiet for quite a while, one's moved to Shetland, and I've moved to Northamptonshire, so I don't know if there are still any owners nearby.

Re: Paint Job Cost
OK - I think I've finally found the guy! The sort of person I like - older guy working for himself, out of a pair of large farm barns in the middle of nowhere. Doesn't have a website, doesn't advertise (except a line in Yellow Pages), not even a sign showing where his business is, which indicates to...
