Re: Misc parts wanted 87 SE

US is no issue. Furthest I have posted so far is New Zealand  Also with reference to the wickens badge (which I love and think looks better than the boring round one  ). If it is an 87 it should probably be black and gold Christmas pudding shape. 85-86 had a few cars with Wickens Gree...

Misc parts wanted 87 SE

So as an 87 SE, I believe the car should have the lozenge 'Wickens' badges. I don't plan on putting them on, just if they are original, I ought to have them 3 total, nose and each B pillar. It think the B pillar trims are different also as the badge shape is different All should be in good visual sh...

Re: Replacing fuel line, 87 SE

Gave up on the stock fuel filter. Whatever that fitting is it will not accept a banjo or crush washer without weeping. It is just a fuel filter at the end of the day. I replaced it with a -6AN fuel filter available locally very similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/RUSSELL-650133-Russell-FUEL-FILT...

Re: Replacing fuel line, 87 SE

Just as a note. The tank outlet is a 1/4 BSPP bolt with a strainer attached. I had two issues. One was that the sealing washer was stuck to the bottom of the tank and shouldn't be reused. I knocked it off with a screwdriver, but should have checked more thoroughly. The sealing surface looked as thou...

Re: Instrument Panel Ground?

OK, so while I wish I had a better understanding of the problem, it appears it is fixed I bought these https://www.mcmaster.com/72065K22/ or these would be good https://www.mcmaster.com/72065K151/ and built a daisy chain for power and ground for the volt gauge, temp gauge and oil pressure gauge[don'...

Re: Instrument Panel Ground?

Pulled the dash out enough to put a jumper from the volt gauge to the engine block and it helps a little, the temp gauge does not dance as badly with the blinkers I have checked the voltage at the alternator and battery and it reads 13.7-13.8 depending on load at idle. The volt gauge reads 12.5 or l...

Re: Replacing fuel line, 87 SE

And to clarify, while it appears all PTFE fittings are compatible, you cannot mix hose fittings for other types of hose[like rubber] They are completely different and cannot be used. My local places to not stock PTFE raw hose at all, or fittings for it. Once you get into the AN/JIC fittings, everyth...

Re: Replacing fuel line, 87 SE

Dave

I am sure that is possible, in fact the majority of the black stainless braided stuff came out of Australia, once you get the full parts list it is not that difficult to change sources

Instrument Panel Ground?

1987 Excel SE Anyone know the physical location of the instrument panel ground? I had mentioned previously that my instruments varied when the fans switch on, or the headlights are on. I just checked the voltage at fuse 13 and it does not dip appreciably[about .1 volt] when the fans switch on,refere...
