Wetherby services Friday 13th Nov
I was taking a van back to a customer in Gateshead and had popped into the services to take a 'comfort break'. Just got back in the van and a blue Excel drives past and starts blasting his horn at a car that was about to drive off with it's boot open! Well done Jerry (MrCoolA) for your public servic...

Lincoln - red Excel
Sitting it the council car park waiting for my wife I watched a red Excel go down Newlands road/street and then back. Very tidy looking red one. Well done Sir on using it. It was nice to see one on the road but it did make me want another one! Been looking on eBay but my financial adviser, much as s...

Re: Anyone speak French and know a bit about Elites?
Thanks for the replies. In his first email he says it's a 2 litre Elite so my info about 2.2 Excel engines will not be correct. I've had no luck with finding the right info. His website http://www.bmway.org/ - don't know if that give his location! I say his website simply because it's his email addr...

Re: Anyone speak French and know a bit about Elites?
Don,
That pretty much what I was thinking, also he contacted me from my website http://www.benani.co.uk which is about Excels not Elites. I wonder if he has an Excel not an Elite?
Whatever, he has a Lotus so I would like to help!

Anyone speak French and know a bit about Elites?
Afternoon folks, A guy has emailed me from my website only problem is he speaks French and I don't! He has used a computer translator (Google?) but I'm not sure it would be best from me to reply that way in case I end up giving him the wrong information. This is what he sent after I asked him to ema...

Benani.co.uk website
Just to let you know that the site could be down for a short while.
I'm changing servers and I 'may' get it wrong the first time
I know from the logs that it is looked at quite a lot so if anyone is desperate for the technical info on there either get it now or email me if the site is down.

Free entry to watch Lotus racing
OK, before you all shout at me, I know this really should be in the Off Topic section. But I guessed this is the busiest place so I hope you don't mind. http://www.lotus-central.com/index.php/en/news/192-etsilverstone190409.html Basically the race meeting that was due to happen at Donington has been...

Re: LOTUS EXCEL IN MELB,AUSTRALIA
I have some doubts about whether it's a genuine SE: I seem to remember someone (mds??) mentioning that the SE has vacuum pipes on the carbs near the manifold. From the pictures this car doesn't have these vacuum pipes but as Robert says not really such a big deal if it is not an SE but it could be ...
For sale
Just found this Excel for sale and thought I'd post it as it is a bit 'hidden'
A reg, not SE, 65k miles - £1500.

Glad you all had a good day. The pictures look great.
Just thought that you (Angus?) might like to take a look here:

Seems like there was a problem with people getting in.

Re: ARRGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH very cheap Excel
Ebay item number 280242307581 sold for £677.
Ok, it had an engine problem but I get a feeling that it was not as bad as the seller thought
Even though £677 for an Excel - SWMBO is telling me I must keep a closer watch on Ebay

Re: Windscreen wiper
Jerry,
Might be a bit late for you.
When you remove the motor if you tie length a bit of string to the wiper spindle, on the outside of the car, you can then use it to ease the spindle back through the hole when refitting.

With reference to building/making a manifold with the engine in situ. Many years ago I was involved with building replica Cobras. I used a place in Nottingham - can't remember who or where, to long ago! - but they would make tubular manifolds with the engine in situ. They removed or I supplied the c...
