Re: Front suspension lower balljoint security

Just had another thought Dave - nylocs are available in different heights - Type P and Type T. Type T is not as high as a type P. If you are fitting a Type P as well as a washer maybe that's why the nylon insert isn't engaging properly. Not sure which type would have been fitted originally but my gu...

Re: Front suspension lower balljoint security

Since the nut is locating against a steel forging I'm not sure the washer is necessary - this would allow more engagement of the nyloc. Are you able to get the full 65 lbft torque applied? Drilling the ball joint pin will be a nightmare!

Re: Paint Job Cost

The paint is also the last bit to be "fixed" - all those gel coat cracks will reappear if not sorted properly. Who's going to do that?

Re: Front suspension lower balljoint security

I've noticed recently that it takes ages for photos on OneDrive to become "available" to embed. It's not until the image becomes rectangular rather than square that it will work. If you go back later you may find that it works OK.

Re: Hall sensors

The LS1 engine in the Excel had the trigger wheel on the crank - worked great. I think I might have worked it out by having the trigger wheel nested/embedded on the rear of the blower drive pulley. I've finished the pattern for the blower front mount casting which will go to the foundry soon - when ...

I've already got Mike's kit on another engine but it won't work on the supercharged front end - less space!

Re: Hall sensors

Thanks guys. That's the conclusion I came to as well after more reading. My idea was to put an anulus of triggers around the flex plate periphery to pick up on but the term flex plate may imply that it does indeed flex? This would constantly alter the sensor gap.

Hall sensors

If I sited a hall sensor (as a crank position sensor) right next to the starter motor would the starter motor interfere with the signal when cranking?

The arm rest looks really good! Great job on the seat re-conditioning - a further write-up would be good.

That really is a big assembly compared to the Lotus/BMW one! The push button idea is actually the easiest for the linear actuator as well.
