Re: 1985 Excel differential. Knowledge required

I seem to remember paying about £200 for mine - but that was ~ 10 years ago. I eventually fitted a BTR Hydratrak to my Excel track car - LOTS of work!

it most certainly will be hitting the track.....
and yes it may too have a turbo :D
We need to see photos of your project! Sounds interesting. What flavour wedge is it? Where do plan on placing the turbo?

Welcome to the forum by the way!

Re: Best brakes to fit on (or inside) standard wheels

You can pretty much lock up the wheels with the standard set-up with good pads and the rest of the system working properly. It depends on whether the car will see the track.

So.... a turbo 912 on it's way?? :D

Defo Toyota. The manual and autos have different ratios. Bash will be along soon to fill you in - he knows lots about the different ratios available etc.. A limited-slip version is definitely available - I sold one a few years back - bought it from a Toyota breaker.

Re: RIP Oliver Winterbottom

You know - a 350i body on a Lotus chassis would be brilliant! Where's the angle grinder!!

I liked my Inca Yellow TR7 - of course I put a V8 in it!

A lift would be great Bash!

Re: RIP Oliver Winterbottom

A "Winterbottom Run" is a brilliant idea - but will I go in the Elite or the TVR? :D

I'll probably still be building them

My '89 MY had the rubber-like bumper - presumably RRIM.

Re: 83 Excel from from Finland

I'll second Bash's suggestion. You will probably get all four dampers the the cost of one bilstein. The other problem with going with the Bilsteins is - who is going to provide them with the build spec? You may still end up with problems and be seriously out of pocket.
