Re: Very early Excel photo

... I have a silver 83 car that has both Eclat and Excel logo's on the bodywork and is registered as an Eclat on the V5.... I am fairly sure that all Excels appear as Eclats on their V5s, because, it is said, Lotus wanted to save a few quid on a new type approval. This sounds very Lotusy. Indeed th...

Re: Lotus Festival 2012 18-19 August

Please count me in for two tickets. (email sent)
I only live a few miles from Brands :) .

The Excel has been off the road for a couple of years, so this will give me the impetus I need. I know she will start OK, so a cambelt change and an MoT and we're off.

Just to put the cat amongst the pidgeons, take a look at this website, especially the bit about tyre degradation over time.

Re: Tensioner bearing...

I bought one for a 912 engine from SJ Sportscars recently. It is marked ' Q3C SKF 414871A Italy M' on the outer edge. Approximate dimensions are 30mm dia x 17mm deep inner and 63mm diameter x 29mm deep outer. Happy hunting :D IMHO, you should support the specialists (inc Lotus parts dept), or they ...

Re: head liner

Yup - can't recommend the factory trim shop highly enough. Full headlining inc. putting leather on the sunvisors in place of vinyl - 1/3 the best price I was quoted locally - and an excuse to take the beastie home for a couple of days so the guy who did the original work could work his magic again....

That's good news then. :)
I may even buy a set myself at that price.
Has anyone checked that part No is the same as for the Excel SE?

Re: Spark Plugs

The numbers 6 and 7 give an indication of the operational heat range of the plug. The 6 has inferior cooling to the 7 and can therefore only operate in a (relatively) cool environment such as found in the combustion chamber of the LC 160 BHP model. Lotus obviously felt the 7 was more suitable for th...
