Re: Driver door exterior door handle loose and edge light missing

As already said, this is a common problem and for many is one of the first jobs tackled - as it was for me. This link shows what I did to repair the broken insert. Still good two years later. It also prompted others to post their suggested solutions. https://www.lotusexcel.net/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1...

Re: Cam lock tool

. slit the old belt in half along its length I've read about that method on the forum before, so should work and sure others have done it that way. There's not slot of clearance around the crank pulley, so you may find you need to wind the second part of the old belt out by turning the engine over,...

Re: Restoration show 2023

Sorry to hear you diagnosis Pete. Believe me though, treatment is far better than the alternative of not knowing until it's too late.
You'd be surprised how many people you know have been through this and are now clear. It's just not spoken about.
Best wishes, Tony

Are you sure that's not the feed to the mirror? I can just make out the 3 pin plug that also feeds mirot in the background.

Re: Front caliper slide bushes and seals.

Seal kit fully installed and the dust boot sits lovely. I always knew it would be seal to caliper, then insert piston, but it's a fiddly exercise as you say John. Even another pair of hands wasn't delivering success. In the end, saviour came in the way of an old brass inside letter box plate off an ...

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

Can I ask what you are painting the suspension components with before refitting them? Bryan, For expediency I went with everything shot blast and powder coated. I figure that if coil springs can hold the finish for a reasonable time, then the ARB should also - I guess in a years time, I'll take a l...

Re: Front caliper slide bushes and seals.

Thanks John I rang BiggRed today and they confirmed by part number moulded in to it that I have the correct part they supply in this kit. He did sound surprised it was going to need stretching so far, but at least I know I have the intended parts. Yes, I agree the only way to assemble is to fit the ...

Re: Front caliper slide bushes and seals.

2 years later and I'm rebuilding calipers and seals whilst redoing the suspension. The corrosion in the bottom eye on the caliper was so much that it compressed the rubber boot onto the steel pin to such an extent that it was incredibly tight to move. Had to draw it out with a threaded rod and deep ...

Great stand and show team. Thanks Richard for driving the organisation and great to have so many people drop by, many of whom seem to own a long off the road wedge. Hopefully the great cars on show will drive their enthusiasm to get even more GT's back on the road.

Re: Travelling Wiper!

. If that's all good I can only guess the problem is slippage between wiper motor and wheel box Good observation John. I'd suggest marking the end of the spindle then you'll quickly know if it's the wiper on the taper slipping or something more drastic. - let's hope for the former. My fear for thou...

Liking that DAB splitter.
Have thought a few times about how to get DAB in the car but didn't want the stick on aerials. Nice alternative and good to know it works.
