Re: Found Santa

Great watch.
I need some head lights that are as effective as these fogs.

If you've got one drive, try instructions Alan did in this link.

Re: heater control cables

Confirmed. A simple two legged barb. Two small screw drivers, one in each leg, and easy push out without damage. Fiddly but too hard.
Now to free the cables.

Re: heater control cables

My controls are very tight, so removed front panel this afternoon. How do the cable outers disconnect from the control panel. Nothing in the manual, and can't find anything on here. I assume the white plastic clip holding the outer can be removed from the panel? Pair of pliers from behind? I have a ...

Re: Excel key

Not any more 😞😞. Data protection nonsense. You are only allowed to find out who owns, or has owned a car if you have a valid reason - Such as "I own a dodgy parking business and I need to know so I can rob some money off the owner" And no, I haven't been caught by one - at least not to have to pay t...

Re: Leather Repair and re-colour : What product suppliers don’t tell you.

--- Learnings--- As commented earlier, I spent probably around £250 in total on this reconditioning work, but IMO, the end result was great value for money. It has transformed the inside of the car and was well worth every penny. To close, a summary of learning’s that would mainly have saved time / ...

Re: Leather Repair and re-colour : What product suppliers don’t tell you.

-- Applying the colour--- You’ll read about sponging the colour on, at least for the first coat, but I found no reason just to go straight to the Air Brush application. The only sponge pre-application I did was on the filled areas on the seat bolster. The kit came with a decent little Air brush and ...

Re: Leather Repair and re-colour : What product suppliers don’t tell you.

--- Before colouring--- I deviated from the FC destructions at this point. Having at times given the leather quite a soaking in Cellulose thinners, I thought it would be a good idea to feed the base leather with some genuine nutrients. Much earlier, I’d bought two products from Leatherique, so after...

Re: Leather Repair and re-colour : What product suppliers don’t tell you.

--- Torn / damaged leather repairs--- I followed the standard instructions and it just works. The glue you get looks and feels like PVA wood glue. It may well be, but as this is the foundation for all the remaining work, you mighty as well use recognised product. The linen is just an off cut from be...

Re: Leather Repair and re-colour : What product suppliers don’t tell you.

--- First Steps – Strip down-- You COULD re-colour and do a half decent job without removing much from the car, but for me, the only way to do a proper job is to remove everything, then where you can, dismantle the panels as far as possible. Examples would be the speaker grill in the rear quarter. I...

Leather Repair and re-colour : What product suppliers don’t tell you.

---Intro --- Having spent the winter making the interior of my 92 Excel a nicer place to be, see my Interior Update thread here xxxx ,I thought it would be a good time to write down my experience with the leather repairs and re-colour. What was good. bad or indifferent and what if anything I’d do di...

Re: Club register

Don't think it will be the same list, but may well have some common starting point. The sheet I have is very comprehensive on the cars but has no owner related detail (other than how many previous owners). I'm in the process of updating MOT & tax status as its at least a couple of years out of date....

Good to speak earlier Neil and I trust you had an enlightening day. Post some more pictures and let us know what you learnt. Regarding batteries, I believe type 048's will fit Elites. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114220519111?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D2...

Nice set of pictures and glad the tour went well.
Careful when you park amongst the leaves. You could soon loose sight of it.
