Re: Spotted Red Elite MUK on M4
MUK990P is the car Martin Buckley bought and LB looked over. There was a report in in Classic & Sports car in April 2023. The chassis is shot and there was a thought it might end up on an Excel chassis. No mention of accident damage and the interior looked pretty tidy. DVLA check is interesting. New...

Re: Steering Rack Rebuild and Track Rod Replacement
Section HA of the service manual is also very good.
Lots of info about pump flow rates etc ( if you've got the right meters) and also replacing seals on the rack, especially best way to fit the rack end way up inside the outer.
I don't think all manuals have this section though.

Re: Paint Code
Good news, Bad news. There is a page 6a, starting at Code L46. The bad news - it stops at A62. My copy of this page is date stamped Sep 1987 Somewhere I've seen details of later paint codes for MY 89. I'll need to look around. My paint code is A73- Silk red, so there is more out there somewhere. Tony

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!
Recently been having problems with drivers door lock. Slam closed - it doesn't latch and just bounces open. A few weeks of the car letting me think the bouncing door was fixed, and it started doing it again. I had a feeling that the z plate wasn't pointing at the levers on the outside door h...

Re: Eclat and Excel on Antiques Road Trips (TV)
This car was for sale mid last year at a dealer in Stafford.
It was advertised for £5,995, which looks an absolute bargain if it was anything like the condition it looks now.
it has done 124K though, not 24K, but has a good long running MOT history.

74 Elite wiring improvements
Not sure where this thread will go, but looking for some knowledge share from you clever electrical types out there, and experiences on the weak links in the wiring harness for the early Elites / Eclats. It says it all when the wiring diagram fits on one page of A4 for the Elite, when my Excel diagr...

Don't worry all. I've not done anything.
Just thought I'd look back on the post and can't believe I'm in danger of missing 2023 totally if I didn't put something up

Definitely something wrong. Everything in the pictures says that is a laye car. Like to see under the bonnet.

Re: Value your Excel if you dare!
Scanning the shelves of my local library ( AKA High St Newsagent with a very common surname) today and saw a very thorough "magazine" from Octane detailing Classic car values. For once, I thought it very realistic with it's estimates ( unlike several monthly mag's that still struggle to place a 5 fi...

Driving down a side road near home the other night, thinking to myself " These headlights really are poor. I need to upgrade to LED". Soon after, I pulled up behind a car and thought changed to " These headlights ain't on !!" Main beam working fine on both flash and switched. Main beam relay removed...

Re: Mileage Issue
Mileage is the last of your problems. I'd be more worried about getting in !!! https://www.lotusexcel.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=12811&sid=1a792927a744f60821e9e6fd670bba90 Is that a coincidence or what? But seriously, looking at DVLA MOT history, it looks to me like it had a replacement clock fitted in...

The bracket and strap are for holding the tool kit Dwayne. Picture below of the underside when I did exactly the same job to remake the base board out of Marine ply. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/36yrjq4s5ag0r91bp6s7p/231112a.jpg?rlkey=csc2zkc830lrk2mv1hsp9u0u4&raw=1 I put a couple of strips of rub...
