Re: Club register

Don't think it will be the same list, but may well have some common starting point. The sheet I have is very comprehensive on the cars but has no owner related detail (other than how many previous owners). I'm in the process of updating MOT & tax status as its at least a couple of years out of date....

Re: Help with Barn find in Sussex near Brighton/Worthing

Good to speak earlier Neil and I trust you had an enlightening day. Post some more pictures and let us know what you learnt. Regarding batteries, I believe type 048's will fit Elites. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114220519111?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D2...

Nice set of pictures and glad the tour went well.
Careful when you park amongst the leaves. You could soon loose sight of it.

Re: Rear cross member corrosion - Advice needed!

Lotus Bit's had them in Stainless for about the same price.
I changed mine last year. As said, most of it can be just torn off, but the captive nut end plates can be a right pain. Not so bad if you can get the car on a ramp.

Re: New member - new owner

Your lacquer peel is just like mine was, but with a few rattle cans, you can make a big improvement for little money. Sounds like your starting point, like mine is one of "I can't possibly make this worse" 😁. Sounds drastic, but I've taken lots of lacquer off my car with a razor blade!!! You'll find...

Re: Help with Barn find in Sussex near Brighton/Worthing

Neil I'd really like to come down and look over your car with you before you start. I have an M reg in Lagoon Blue with Oatmeal interior. It looks like the two cars are virtual clones. 😀. Mine has been retrimmed though but from your photos, yours looks completely as it left the factory. I would love...

Re: New member - new owner

Welcome.
Your description sounds very much like my car 18 months ago. Good engine, shame about the face (Paint and interior).
If you've got the time, it's very rewarding bringing the visuals up to good standard and not too expensive if you can DIY.
Looking forward to seeing piccies.

Re: Help with Barn find in Sussex near Brighton/Worthing

Adding photos is not the easiest thing, but this link Alan created should help viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11571 Would love to see some pictures, not least the interior. Sounds like a good chance its not been too messed with, in which case I might just need to take a drive down to study before you tidy it. ...

Re: Elite restoration begins!

Lovely piece of engineering.
Seems a shame to cover it up? They didn't in the later Elise / Exige.
- But it could be a bit drafty 😊😊.

Re: New Member

Welcome David. - A wise choice, but I'd second Ray and Richard in saying you may need to be patient for a good one. Irrespective of age, spec or condition though, if you see one for sale local to you, I'd go and take a look and a drive. It's always good to have some reference points, Pleased our tal...

Ideas for display boards please

We had 4 display boards at the NEC, intended to be fixed to the centre column on the stand by double sided tape. Good plan, but sticking anything to painted concrete proved a challenge, with each board falling to the floor on several occasions ( hence the now cropped corners in photo below). If anyo...

Re: Excel (and Lotus) magazine scans

Came across a pile of "Popular Classics" from the early 90's lurking in a dark corner of the garage today. One had an article on an Eclat resto. A quick check and it's still taxed, although no MOT since June 2019 - But that saw it through to 40 years, so It's out there somewhere - and on the road. :...

Thread high jack - But I started it, so I'm entitled   We were discussing Elite centre console "wood" trays on the zoom last night Peter. Turns out I have 2 spare of each size. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ggkw5232dsr22h/211118a.jpg?raw=1 There are two sizes : 245 x 135 and 230 x 140. I have...

Re: Footwell trim material?

Thanks guys. I checked out the parts list and that confirms its carpet. Shame mine is not quite a match to the rest of the car (which was replaced a couple of years back using Coverdale product). My 74 Elite has vinyl covered panels, but I do recall they scuff up badly. I'm now questioning whether t...
