Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

Seeing as yesterday looked like being the last day of summer, thought it would be a good time to take the car out and snap a few photo's that don't just show lacquer peal :D Time to record the fruits of some of the last 3 months of work. And a chance to drive the car somewhere other than across to L...

Thinking about it, I might just go straight in with the contact cleaner spray.

Re: Wiring diagram needed

Thanks for your help H..s0. Between sheets 6 and 7 and your guidance, I'm starting to understand things a little. I must say these diagrams are not easy to read and I'm pretty sure there are a few errors in them. Finally worked out that half of sheet 7 is duplicated on sheet 6 ! Why didn't they just...

Re: Spotted this up for Auction

Encouraging. - And that's for a left hooker. OK if you're looking in a mirror.

Looks to have been in pretty good original condition, but a good amount of crazing to the fibre glass and suspect the trim may be looking a bit saggy in places.
Would be nice to see the new owner on here.

Re: NEC Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show 2020

That's a shame, but I guess the way things are going, it was becoming increasingly predictable.
Takes the pressure off needing to get a pass for the cars imminent MOT.

Thanks to all for the efforts to get us represented. Definitely up for assisting at the Restoration show.

Re: Wiring diagram needed

Yes. I have page 17. Very informative and system better understood as result of reading, but struggling to understand where the main beam signal comes from on daylight flash.

Re: Wiring diagram needed = Flash not working.

Now happy I'm looking at correct diagrams for my car ( Sheet 6B is same as 6c, just with the dim dip module for UK market instead of a link wire) and as identified by Hawaiis0, the MF diagrams are identical. Now electrics are not my strong point, so any help would be appreciated here. Firstly, can a...

Re: First job jobbed - 2 more found !!!

Pretty productive week this week, with good progress on a number of fronts Took the trip to Lotusbits and now have the seat belt plates ready to refit when the rear seat is ready to go back in. Picked up a drive shaft at the same time ( the off side outer CV joint is shot). Having met up with Trevor...

Re: Door beam compatibility

Tony - a chap on FB is looking for a drivers door beam for an elite, if you want to advertise it there let me know Stu : Drivers beam is solid, but the flat plate does have a reasonable amount of rust that has gone through in a few spots. I have a plate to do the same repair as for near side, but t...

Re: Air Horn faults.

Problem solved. Turns out Noddies horn is a lot happier being blown than sucked 📯📯..... Careful guys.... The moderator will want a word. Don't know if it was the wiring polarity that was wrong or the pipes on wrong, but once connected correctly it honks like a good un. Used my 240 V air compressor t...

Wiring diagram needed

Has anyone got a copy of page 6 and 6B, from the section MH variant of the electrical section of the manual they could scan and email to me? (Excel 89 model Year). I now have a scanned copy of the majority of this section but typically, I have a problem with the head lamp flashing circuit, and this ...

Re: Steering column "knock"

Sometimes, things get progressively worse, then the solution becomes blindingly obvious. Took a trip to LB today for rear seat belt plates primarily, but spoke with Mike about the knock. I got very close to buying a replacement column, agreeing with Mike that by the time you've removed and stripped ...

Re: New member - Excel SA

I tried various paints / solutions to repair the reflector on my Series 1 style rear lights. In the end found that a sticky backed silver foil worked best. The top half done in photo below, then powered the bulb to see the effect. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2go8cc2fhvtvju5/200916.jpg?raw=1 Due to the...

Re: Air Horn faults.

Thanks guys. I have a plan now. Will remove air pump and separately blow air into the trumpets. Should be able to see what flow the pump delivers and ply it with some Lubricant. Visiting Lotusbit's on Thursday as I need a couple of rear seat belt plates. If the pump is shot, might be a good opportun...

Covid permitting, I'm taking the Excel along to a meet in Earls Barton, Northants tomorrow evening, so will have to pass on this week.

Be back on line for next meeting.
