Re: Steering column to rack rubber dust cover

I have just done this using an 18 / 42 / 30 universal one from ebay under £6 for 2. I thought I may be able to split it and glue back together however on trying to fit I decided this wouldn't work. So removed the 2 bolts on the UJs in the engine bay, tapped the column back up into itself and slid th...

Re: Numbers & stats

You should really also adjust the number produced to include the transferred eclats to excels assuming they have always been registered "incorrectly".

This comes from someone who may have previously used a log scale on a graph to hide an upwards trend!

Re: door opening light and red warning not working

If as op says there is no volts to the doors then it's not a filament. On my '85 se the drivers side is accessible, near side much less so. The two aren't interconnected, one can work and the other can be non functional / disconnected. If you buy a replacement switch there are two types, one as fitt...

Re: Instrument lights

Single bulb will not cause total failure. As above I would suspect the dimmer and bypass by adding a jumper cable between the contacts. This sorted mine out.

Re: Air Horn faults.

I've had this previously, it was simply insufficient pressure to sound the horns. Sorted by copious amounts of gt85 into the compressor and run it for a bit with pipes removed.

Thanks, didn't want to pay Lotus tax on a common part
Got another issue now as snapped one of the manifold to downpipe studs. May be an excuse to get a performance version.

Re: Gearbox Rebuild

We're Done!!! The exhaust manifold studs arrived on Saturday, but I was too busy having fun with the kids to get any engine work done. Sunday the studs went in, then the engine/gearbox went back into the car, with the assistance of wife and both children! Good fun trying to line up three gearbox mo...

Re: Ghostly goings on!

Mine started doing this earlier on in the week. Lights pop up when ignition is switched off. If I remove fuse 5 (radio switched live) it no longer does it.

Re: Elite : Kaizen, those small manufacture changes.

My 86MY excel had the longer legs fitted in the passenger side, I have not looked at the drivers side so don't know if it has been replaced at some point. All points were bolted to the door beam apart from the front which had rusted off.

Re: Window Frames

Are there any of these available? I followed the ebay link but nothing was on there.
Had a couple of rust spots on the passenger side, thought I would have a look during the lockdown, turns out they had been badly repaired previously and now have a swiss cheese frame!

Mine is the other way around. Must depend on what day of the week it was built.

I don't know where you have your unit mounted, mine is next to the fuse box and I use the earth point under the steering column.which works fine.

Re: Tacho peculiarities

I too am running a nodiz but do not have these symptoms. Does not narrow the fault down other than it can work correctly. Did you have the symptoms on the original ignition? The way I wired it there is only be 3 connections to check, the plug on the back of the instrument panel, the wire from the no...
