Re: Automatic transmission hesitation

Here is an update on the SA auto box hesitation from start-off...turns out that the idle balance lever had been jimmied by someone in the past. I was able to source a new carb balance lever for the Dellorto 45 carb with both balance barrels attached. It is part number 11129 - Lotus Turbo Balance Lev...

Re: Cruise control

My 1987/88 SA developed a serious clicking noise near the intake manifold, which sounded like there was a serious issue near the top of the engine. The ticking sound only occurred when the transmission was in DRIVE. The noise ceased when either the brakes were applied or the car built up speed, but ...

Re: Automatic transmission hesitation

So...it's been almost three years since I visited this topic. Ultimately, the hesitation problem (fade out at start-off - low speed acceleration) returned. In late 2019, I took the car down to a carburettor specialist near Winchester on the recommendation of another owner. These guys definitely know...

Re: Water Ingress

LOTUS SERVICE UPDATE - On February 16, 1988, Lotus issued a service update to address the water ingress from the doors and sills. This information was kindly provided to me from Steve at SJ. I am in the process of carry out these modifications momentarily. Please tell me how to insert this pdf for e...

Are there drain holes at the point where the door sills meet the wheel arch?

Re: windscreen washer jets

I bought the single washer jets from Halfords for £ 1.99 each. They fit perfectly and the spray provides full coverage of the windscreen.

Are the original washer jets for 87 SA still available? If not, what are the alternatives?

Re: Ready to retrofit air-con

I had to take out the dash.

My a/c guys believe the evaporator is leaking.

Does anybody know a suitable replacement part or where the evaporator can be rebuilt?

Re: Ready to retrofit air-con

I am having issues with the AC in my 87 Excel SA. I have changes the dryer / condenser / and had it cleaned out and recharged by a true auto AC expert. It charges up properly and works perfect for 24 hours, but then loses pressure. My guy has check for leaks but cannot find anything. It would appear...
